What People Are Saying About High Peaks Animal Hospital
Not honest on shots and charges
by snore1 at Citysearch
I recently brought my 95 yr old mother with her 2 cats to the Malone office for rabies boosters. We stated that the booster was needed when calling for appointment, to the receptioist when arriving, to the assistant in the exam room, and to the vet. After she paid the $167 dollars, we were told to return in a year for the booster and when I asked why the 3 yr booster had not been given, I was told they needed proof of shots. We had the papers with us but not one person explained that they needed to see them prior to giving the shot. Since I had stated 4 times that they needed boosters and no one said anything about proof, I can only assume this is a money grab and poorly run office.

High Peaks will giver you good service however they will charge you for it as well. The use a strong, presser sale tactic to push you in to approving all kind of medical care for you animal and most of the customer decision is an impromptu base off sales force they classify as veterinary. The sale of high presser vet care that the animal doses not need most of the time have cause us move from them.
And when you confront them that you can not afford their service due to you need to take care of you family health first them the pet. You are look a pond as you priority is wrong.
Dose anyone know where I could find a vet and not a high price wellness center for the animal.
- Pros: Wellness center
- Cons: High presser vet care that the Animal dose not need.
Worst Vet in the Northern New York

I found a stray cat who was severely malnourished. After 2 visits with this vet and $170.00 worth of basic service(ie. check up, shots) I ended up with a cat who had worms a week after she was tested and deemed negative and endured a needless surgery at another vet because this one charges $130.00 for a spaying while another I used charges $ 45.00. Not only was the cat made to suffer unnecissarily because of their incompetence but I was charged for a second office visit after being sent away from the first and told to come back when the cat was in better health and promised there would not be a second charge. It seems that they are unable to tell if an animal has been spayed or not because at the first visit they said she hadn't and they can't read their own notes as the vet said to come back in 3-4 weeks. But the clerk was adament that I was supposed to be back in 1-2 weeks. Thus the second charge. Also don't bother to complain to the managing parties in Ray Brook or Bangor NY because in their view if they give you any kind of service despite how poor or inaccurate there will be a full charge. They believe this is fair. Save your time, animals and money, go somewhere else!
- Pros: location
- Cons: non existent customer service, exhorbitant prices, incompetence diagnoses

This vet hospital has the best staff. They have kept me up to date with everything that is going on with my dog Lindsey. My Lindsey has become very sick and we are really not sure why yet. The High Peaks Vet Hospital took her in with no questions asked and also showed concern for her. I woke up on a Sunday morning to find my dog Lindsey very ill and i called several vet hospitals they wouldn't even take her in and had no compassion for her.Lindsey is like our baby and we would do anything for her. She is a fun loving dog and very energetic. I would not think twice about sending any of my pets to High Peaks Vet Hospital. I know my dog Lindsey is in the best of hands and THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH TO THE ENTIRE STAFF.
- Pros: considerate,helpful,loving
- Cons: none
