Food is pretty bad

The service was very bad, rude and surly employees and the food tasted liked it was a day old.

ZAGAT my butt....

ZAGAT my butt.... Not worth the 10mi trip from the TAC (Taconic State Parkway). Insects in the cocktails, missing alcohol from their "premier drinks", dried-out over-cooked fried food (how can you mess up Chicken Fingers?), overcooked Pork Loin, missing Au Jus for Prime Rib ... then the proverbial icing on the cake ... they FORCE CHARGE you 20% tip (even after leaving cash on the table), and when you call them on it, they tell you its not their problem and to call your bank. Can only hope the other places on the Diners, Dives & Drive-ins show are better. Coincidentally, there are 2 pictures of NJ Diners, the Bendix Diner (in Hasbrouck Heights on Rte 17) and the Tick-Tock Diner (in Clifton on Rte 3 West) .... both are phenomenally better.

• Pros: if you want overpriced food with small quantities, this is the place
• Cons: shyster management, crappy service

As good as it gets

The meals are so ample that you can split them.

We usually do and have Roast Dinner, Fish Dinner, Gyro, or Macaronni and Cheese with a side salad. The fresh vegetable side is usually several squash with carrots and brocolli. Lemon pie is fanstic. The ice cream sundaes too much to eat. The menu is very extensive with hot dogs and burgers to much more "refined" tastes. This is one of the best American Diners in America and we have been to many, including the one last built. This is just north of FDR's home and the Hyde Park Drive-In Movie theater (real outdoor movies), and south of the Vanderbuilt Estate. Choosing between the Everready and the Culinary Institute of America's restaurants is hard, but we usually end up at the Everready.
