From crowds to solitude, this is the "Jekyll and Hyde" of area mountains.. In Short
During ski season, weekends are hopping, while weekdays are quiet. Lift lines are opportunities to see and be seen, and the air is electric with the promise that there's hours of fun still to be had after the lifts close. After all, it's even accessible to the vehicularly challenged--there are buses that leave from New York every weekend. Crowds thin during warm months, but numerous festivals and recreation opportunities attract visitors year-round.
