Have excellence will travel.
The flavors are superb, and the portions are generous. My favorite menu items haven't changed in any way in the 16 years that I've been dining there. I travel three hours and 150 miles from Long Island to dine there. I also take in a hike to the top of Mohonk, have dinner at Egg's Nest, and stay overnight and return to LI early the next morning. The Egg's Nest has a unique and healthful menu that's hard to find anywhere else.
I absolutely love it.

a quirky gem.
don't go for the drinks, as you will hear the staff debating what exactly goes into each one with wide variance and they are always on the weak side, but go for the *food*! seated in the elaborately decorated dining area, you will find a great variance of tasty treats on the menu. burgers and specials are tops. the owner makes the rounds of the tables and seems genuinely interested in your opinion of his place and you get the feeling he is looking to build a repeat clientele through getting to know you. it's working for us, and we look forward to tucking in there again.

Best of the Best.
We drive out of our way to go to this really funky gem! Great food, ecclectic decor, good service... Romantic cubbyholes and family style tables. Not to be missed!
