A favorite – This restaurant is a little out of the way, but it is worth going to. Consistently good.
Can't judge a book by its cover – Service, working in tight quarters succeed every time;bread baskets...best I have ever had;staff is friendly and knowledgeable and the hostess Patty is the best.Wine list very interesting and contains good ones and some unknown to me but worth trying.Kitchen hasn't missed since I began going in Fall 2005.I have a summer/vacation home in the town and come out every other week off season, and find the popular place requires reservations even during the off summer months and Fall wine/pumpkin season.
Whenever they offer Striped Bass, hook it, best preparation and flavorings anywhere.
Desserts rival anything Little Italy concocts.
Take it from a salesman in Manhattan, who entertains frequently at lunch like Osteria Del Circo, this place scores , as they say in horse racing, as "much the best"
Wife tells me the salads are great....I'm too concerned about ordering more bread
If you get Kim,you have the best waitress on the East End.....
Oh, if it's not summer time, dress for the Sound's wind
Great spot after a day in the wine country – We ended the wine tour with friends from PA (who own a large mansion on the Delaware for Weddings and a resturant themselves) and are VERY critical as are we. The service was terrific and attentive. Even though the seating is close (not cramped) it had a nice feel and we still felt private. The location is like dining in Laguna Beach in CA and the casual eating/fine dining appeal is all there.
Bon Appitite 5 Star – Absolutely wonderful! Food is definately excellent, very fresh and large portions. Service was very personalized. The ambience is casual, romantic and relaxing. This is a special hideaway for those looking for their time alone. My favorite restaurant!!!
Pretty good - not the best – This place is good because it's right near where I live. However, I would not drive over a half an hour to go to this place. The food, is ok. The desserts are divine. Get the Tahitian vanilla pudding. Banana pudding came out as a chocolate cake? weird. Don't get the sea bass, just a blah white fish. Salads are great. Wine list is good. You are going to spend a lot of money, esp. with drinks and dessert. But if it's a nice day, you can see the water and that makes it worth it. Also the fact that Eastern Long Island has so few good restaurants, it makes it worth it not to have to drive all the way to the hamptons for a decent meal.
A GEM OF A PLACE – OUT OF THE WAY AND INTIMATE. THIS RESTAURANT IS WORTH THE TRIP, IF YOU CAN FIND IT.
THE FOOD IS SATISFYING, THE SERVICE DELIGHTFUL. KNOWN FOR THEIR HOMEMADE PASTA AND SEAFOOD, LA PLAGE WILL NOT DISAPPOINT.
