New slant on a Garden City favorite. There are quite a few restaurants on Franklin Ave. in Garden City, but no where to get first rate comfort food. The new owner/chef of the Upper Crust Cafe delivers with top quality ingredients and twists on old favorites. I loved the French Toast with maple butter and pecans on whole wheat bread and the eggs are done right. The corned beef hash was real meat, not the usual canned variety you get everywhere. The pancakes are delicious, and the orange juice is freshly squeezed. I've only had the hamburger for lunch so far, but it was a fresh patty that was cooked perfectly. If I had to compare this place to somewhere I've been before, I would say it was like a Long Island version of Sarabeth's Kitchen. I'm looking forward to trying more of the chefs great cooking.

THE BEST TUNA MELT YOU WILL EVER EAT IN YOUR LIFE. I am addicted to the Tuna Melt sandwiches in this place. AMAZING..!!! They use some kind of special cheddar cheese that is so mellow? I laughed when a buddy told me about this place thinking what the heck is the big deal about a tuna melt? One bite and I was addicted?. One of the waitresses suggested I try the chicken salad as a melt and now I don?t know which I like better I am leaning on the chicken salad melts (though it not on the menu) The bad part is they close by 3 or 4 o?clock and order early as the place gets packed at lunchtime. Atmosphere is very ?Cheers? like as everyone seems to know everyone. I?ve seen judges from the courthouses as well as many of the local doctors eat there. Seems to be a local favorite. The staff there is awesome? bunch of cute high school/college girls that seem to know everyone.

Best little place in town!. My husband and I love coming here for brunch for some delicious and healthy food. The place has weird hours but the owner and staff are amazing. Try the Rose Garden!! The quiche is delicious as well!
