Holiday Inn Visalia-Hotel and Conference Center.
I pricelined this hotel for a family reunion between a sister I had never met and me. I think regular cost is $85-$100 a night, I negotiated much much less than that because I guess it was a slow
weekend. Might want to try that. The reunion didn't work out, unfortunately, and when that happened the Staff rallied around to make my stay here completely private so someone looking for me or calling for me would not know I was still here.
they were very understanding and worked with me to protect my privacy.
Each room has a huge assortment of pillows to use. I travel with an extra suitcase of pillows because of medical issues. I know now that the next time I come here (with friends from Houston, not to see family) I won't have to bring all those pillows. It will save me $120 with the airline not to bring a second suitcase!
Room service is excellent as is the restaurant in the hotel. I wish the restaurant stayed open later; it closes at 9pm; room service ends at 9pm also, which is a drag. no midnight request for desert.....
Everything is sort of far away from this hotel, it"s sort of "out there" by the Visalia Airport, although I never saw or heard aircraft. I'm having to depend on cabs now that I'm not depending on family for rides. A cab to the Visalia Mall cost $16.50 before tip, although the driver was a real hoot (ABC Taxi). There is a Red Robin in the mall; be careful that when you buy something in any of the mall shops that you get the right size you want and that what you buy is working. Expensive cab ride back out there to exchange wrong, broken items that store staff wasn't paying attention to and I didn"t know at the time should be checked.
The hotel has two pools: indoors and outside, both beautiful pools. There were many special events here over the weekend, wedding reception, high school reunion, veterans reunion, etc. and NONE of that noise filtered up to the floor where my room was.
The room keys can't seem to stay magnetized but the front desk is friendly and helpful with the issue.
The beds are very comfortable and the rooms extremely clean. Only issue is that they need to put the unused Holiday Inn shuttle parked out in front of the hotel to good use to take (especially) long term guests to the mall or downtown and pick them up later. I dread finding ouy how much the cab is going to be to Fresno tomorrow to the airport. Should have rented a car I guess.…
For more than 50 years, this hotel's familiar green sign has signaled budget-friendly lodging for families and business travelers..
