FINE PIZZA, For Sure!.
Conte's is a fun local pub!
Hardly anyone uses the front door! Park around in back or on the (safe) side street.Friendly wait staff and thin-crust pizza with classic toppings. Much take-out business because it is the best Pizza in Princeton area. If there is a line waiting for a table, why go take a seat at the bar while you put in your pizza order. Check out the ambiance-locals of all ages, along with Princeton students and high school groups. Have a Rolling Rock or a Coke while you see what sports team is on the tube! When your pizza is ready, they will have a table for you. Salads are unnecessary, but available: Chunk of iceberg with fresh tomatoes and a little onion, with good dressing. Large water glasses help the terrific pizza slide down.
Friday and Saturday evening it is BUSY, like all popular spots in Princeton. I've been stopping in for Pizza at Conte's for over forty years and the Pizza, thankfully, hasn't changed.
Poor Pizza. Despite its popularity in the area my experience has been that the pizza at Conte's just isn't all that good. The crust is mediorce and generally floppy and the sauce is uninspired and relatively flavorless. In addition it is fairly pricey for the quality of pizza you are getting. My opinion is that the popularity of Conte's rests mainly in the fact that there are basically no decent Italian/Pizza places within a 15 miles radius.
Good pie. There are only two things you can order here--salad and pizza--but you don't need anything else. Crust is thin and crispy, sauce even beats out Grimaldi's in Brooklyn. Conte's may not have ambiance but they do have the longest bar I've ever seen.
