Not the best first impression... – After reading eight great reviews and a single bad one I decided to try Mandarin's Deptford location for some take-out. Very, very bad first impression. I tried the general's chicken and it was horrible. It was chewie, stringie and just tasted kind of off. Just about every piece had a chunk of something I'm hoping was fat that I had to spit out. For the extra money they charge I would expect much more. On a brighter note, the egg roll was pretty good and they put a little cup of table mustard in with the condiments.
I will be willing to give them one more try but I will stick to the japanese side of the menu.
Great Sushi – I have been to all 3 rest. and the best by far is the one in Glassboro. The rest has an oriental feel, and the food is delicious especially the sushi. We try to go to the "all u can eat sushi" because we get our money's worth and 95% of the time, our order is complete and not missing anything. Each location has a "all u can eat" but Glassboro, in my opinion, has the freshest sushi of all.
Great sushi and dim sum – Excellent place for lunch and take out. Service is prompt and food is great. Nice atmosphere for a quiet lunch.
Soo Good – The first time i went there I was surprised to find that the food was great. Most Chinese/Japanese Restaurants around this part of town don't know how to make the foods. Their sushi is amazing. Everything is fresh and the help is wonderful. I've gone to Royal Mandarin over a dozen times.
Awesome food, I have become a regular – This place has excellent food. Don't take advice from anyone who has been there once. I eat in some of the best restaurants in NYC and Philadelphia but this is one of my favorites. The food is fresh and served to perfection. The sushi is excellent, especially for a small local restaurant. I have become a regular and visit Royal Mandarin 2-3 times a month. If you enjoy great chinese and japanese food, this may be South Jersey's best.
bah! – This place is overrated. I give them credit for the sushi. It's just "ok". So, for an "ok" food, it doesn't mean u charge an arm and a leg for it. I also ordered the General Tso's Chicken. The chicken was old, because you can tell by the texture (which was stringy and chewing), and the aftertaste. If you want good chinese/sushi food, try King Wong in Marlton, NJ.
