It doesn't get any better than this – I travel a lot for business and this is one of the best places I've found along the way. What a great little local joint with always awesome food and in many many stops there I've never had a bad meal but I've had many extraordinarily memorable ones. If you're anywhere near Topeka, this place is worth a side trip. It's handy to the highway too so it doesn't take a map and GPS to get there.

Topeka's Best BBQ – this is just a great great local BBQ place, well known by the locals, and sometimes discovered by lucky visitors

I've been going here for years and never have got a bad meal. my favorite is the burned ends, best I've ever had anywhere, and the babyback ribs. Best sandwich is the pulled pork and ham.

there's three sauces so you can dress your BBQ however you want it

It's my favorite restaurant in the city and it's been voted the Best BBQ in the city for as long as I can remember.

TERRIBLE! – I ate there based on reviews on the internet and getting off the turn pike theres a sign that says its the best BBQ in town.. WRONG!

1. There was no one there to seat you; the hostess was too busy taking dumb pictures with her co workers and doing other things.

2. It took about 30-45 minutes before I got my meal.

3. The beef brisket was so dried.

4. The prices are way over the top for this food

5. The portions are so small with a big price tag

6. The table behind me were complaining about how their ribs were COLD.

We will never go back and Im sorry but even HOG WILD PIT BBQ is a better joint than this.

Well worth the drive for GREAT BARBEQUE!!! – Boss Hawg's is slightly off the beaten path, but well worth the drive if you are anywhere near Topeka.

If you are passing through town on I-70, this place is a "must stop" for those who love barbeque.

It is a quaint little restaurant and sport's bar with the best baby back rib's anywhere! The meat falls fom the bone and the flavor is addictive, the ribs appear to have been cut to allow for extra meat on each slab.

The pulled pork sandwich (Boston Roast) is another of my favorites with three sauces available (Sweet, Spicy, and Boss's Revenge for those who like it HOT).

The baked beans are unlike any I have had before and must be tried, the potato salad is also delicious as well as the cornbread which is served with honey butter. Numerous ribbons adorn the walls from national competition including a World Championship in Brisket (these people know how to cook). This is a refreshing change from the "chain restaurants" and has an atmosphere like the bar from the TV sitcom "Cheers". The menu has numerous excellent choices, enough to please any palate.

There is a reason it has been chosen the best barbeque in Topeka annually since the day they opened,

you can taste the love that has gone into preparing this food. My service has always been excellent.

Avoid at all costs! – We ate there based on this sites review and some family that live in Topeka who said how great the food was? I have never been so disappointed in all of the following things.

1. The service was poor.

2. The server did not know how to smile yet alone hold a conversation. I think she would have been better suited for a janitorial position!

3. The food when it came out was subpar the beef was tough and tasted old!

4. The prices are way over the top for this food

5. Received a bill and no thank you or come see us again anything!

We will never go back and our family needs to find another bbq joint cause this just ain't it!

7.6? Are you CRAZY?!?!? – I grew up in Topeka and had no idea that I was living in one of the "barbeque capitals of the world" until I left. Topekans take places like Boss Hawg's for granted. I LOVE Boss Hawg's and make a point of going there every time I go home. The meats are well smoked and served naked so you can actually taste the flavor. Of course if you prefer your barbecue smothered in sauce, Boss Hawg's gives you three choices with which to do just that. Don't miss the baked beans; they're AMAZING! They are made with golden raisins. It may sound scary, but it makes for the best baked beans I've ever tasted! Don't miss this Topeka treasure!
