First opened in 1963 in Lowell, Mass., under the name Consumer Value Stores, this drugstore chain is among the largest in the country. Stores carry a variety of products, from baby supplies, home health equipment and vitamins to toys and greeting cards. Most locations offer Healthy Skin Care Centers, located near the pharmacy, which emphasize beauty as a health issue, and employ a skin care technician to educate customers about European and dermatologist-backed brands like Vichy.

Pleasant people, really disorganized or overwhelmed. Located in a vacation beach town, one of the things one might expect this pharmacy to do well is fill one-time prescriptions for those vacationers who have run out or forgotten their medications. Not so. Though very nice and personable, the professional pharmacy staff are overwhelmed. Even simple needs take six or more hours to full - in my case including four visits to the store. The non-professional (counter) staff aren't up to handling pushy customers (of which there are many) and maintaining order.

Find a quiet local non-chain pharmacy for a better experience.
