Small size and an unassuming exterior belie the immensity of the dishes prepared at this busy Chinese restaurant..
In Short
Opposing mirrors duplicate the dining room many times over, complete with scrolls, lanterns, and full-colored pictures of specialty dishes. Service is skilled, attentive and efficient, even when the lunch crowd packs every available seat. All dishes are available steamed with sauce on the side for the health-conscious. Family-Style tofu finds a loyal following amongst vegetarians and omnivores alike, as do spring rolls and vegetable-bean curd soup.
American Chinese food!.
I wrote this review to warn those who enjoy authentic chinese food, this place is definitely the place you don't want to go.
You can't find this kind of Chinese dishs anywhere- especially in the places where real Chinese people go and eat. Don't get it wrong. I don't mean their food is bad, but perhaps they are only good for people who enjoy american style chinese food, greasy, sweet and sour kind. Most of Asian people I know don't go there.
By the way, there cooks looks like Mexicans and the waitress's services were pretty bad when I was there. However, I've only been there once (and don't want to go anymore!)
Try the Ginger Fish!!. I live in New York and ever since I had China Gate, I have been craving for it for it for years. I finally got a chance to visit Ann Arbor again, and China Gate was the first place I went to. Food is great!! Can't get Chinese food like that anywhere else (not in New York at least).
