The Scene
Tucked away atop a knoll, amid stunning mountain vistas, this New Hampshire B&B is a popular romantic haven. The 1860s granite mansion is home to two innkeepers (one of whom conveniently doubles as a justice of the peace for in-house weddings), plus two dogs and two llamas. Its history harkens back to a woman named Nancy Barton, who died in a snowstorm nearby while pursuing her lover. Her friendly spirit still searches for him to this day.
The Amenities
Each individually appointed room--with Laura Ashley-esque decor--has its own wood-burning fireplace and private bath. There is a Jacuzzi in the gazebo by the pond and gardens, but premium suites feature their own whirlpools and some have private decks. The two-bedroom cottage has these luxuries, in addition to a sauna. The on-site restaurant creates a new menu daily and serves a divine two-hour, five-course dinner.
