Ouch!. Poor food. Burger was dry and the fries tasted like they had been sitting for too long. Very disappointed in this restaurant

BEST PLACE YOULL EVER EAT AT. Second St. Lunch is probably the best restuarant ever. It is the only place to get a hot dog and fries smothered in cheese and bacon. Club Rachel is delicious!!! GO THERE or your missing out

Poor food & poor service = poor experience. I heard the 2nd st. lunch was a RR institution before visiting. It's small and dumpy with horrible food. I ordered a burger (their signature entree) that arrived over-cooked and was a poor excuse for beef. Not even sure if it was beef? The service was slow and it appeared that it was painful for anyone to do anything in a hurry. I spoke to Danny, the owner, he was nice and apologized for the problem. I didn't trust his sincerity and left there with a bad taste in my mouth (both literally & figuratively). The place is in dire need of a remodel job. I would never patronize the 2nd St. Lunch again.

The ONLY place to eat regularly in Roanoke Rapids NC. Let me start by saying that unlike the previous reviewers, I still reside in Roanoke Rapids, and have been eating at 2nd Street every week, 1-3 times a week, for the last 25 years! If you have never eaten there, let me suggest the Annwich combo. ITs a large burger any way you want it, and an order of fries. Add a sweat tea and you've got the best meal you'll ever eat!! If your appetite is large like mine... add a Chilli cheese dog. *lol* The wait staff has been there for YEARS! I was giving my order to a few of these women 25 years ago as a child!! And now I have one particular waitress that waits on me. I don't go if she isn't working. *lol* She knows what I want, I seldom change it, and the drink hits the table seconds after I do. Brenda is by far the BEST SERVER in the place.

Owner Danny Haislip named his entire menu after his relaives. That should tell you enough about the orientation of the business and the atmosphere inside the building: FAMILY & FRIENDS. Yes.. it is packed with locals. You want to get a seat for lunch, get there around between 11-11:30am.. otherwise, plan on waiting 30 minutes or so for a seat. And most days, there is standing room only as folks will not leave if the seats are all full. Danny is a wonderful spirited man who talks to his customers as if he has known them for years, because he has. And I cannot honestly say that I have had a better dining experience ANYWHERE... and I have eaten is some VERY nice establishments all over the world. Could the building use some remodeling. Sure. Would it effect anything about the place. NOPE! Wouldn't change the food or service, and the building is not falling down.

The phone ringing for take out orders is annoying being as they are usually so busy wiht dine in guests, that they cannot get to the phone to answer. So don't call... just go.. and go early. They also serve breakfast ALL DAY LONG, and are open for dinner as well. Go see Danny and his staff next time your in town
