Although they claim great customer service, they don't stand behind their cars (not even close to them).
I purchased a 2006 Dodge Grand Caravan Automax in Greenville in July of 2007 with assurances from their employees that it was a good vehicle in great condition, and that they would take care of any issues I had with it that were pre-existing problems. I put on approximately 2,500 miles in the six weeks following the purchase date, primarily in highway travel, before realizing that I had to replace the brakes on it.
After having the brakes replaced, I called three people at Automax to see how they could help me, since I know brakes should typically take longer than that to wear out. I was hopeful that since the company claims to pride itself on customer service and ensuring that their pre-owned vehicles are excellent condition, that they would take responsibility for selling one that had a pre-existing issue.
Unfortunately, when I called to discuss the pre-existing issue with my brakes and what I had to have done, they told me that since it was over a month since we purchased it (it was 6 weeks when the issue surfaced) and we had driven it approximately 2, 500 miles, there was nothing they were willing to do. They also stated that they ensure that there is at least 50% of the brake pad remaining before selling a vehicle. They said all of this was in the contract we signed (which is a complete contradiction of their vaunted ?customers first? attitude that they boast about and claim pride about). However, when I spoke to a mechanic at the establishment that changed our brake pads, I was told that there is no way over 50% of the brake pads could be used in the (less than) 8 weeks since we took ownership.
This negative experience has cost over $200, and the rest of the community should know how much they truly "care" about their customers at Automax - or that they really just truly "care" about making a profit, and don't seem to care at all about anything after customers roll off the lot. Out of 8 used cars purchases, this was by far the worst experience I've had.
