Best Steak and BBQ in 15 years. We were in Lawton, Ok. for three nights and I wanted bbq and she wanted ribeye, but we both wanted it to be as good as what I could make back in Va. Samuel, one of the fine people who hosted us at the La Quinta Inn, said "Hands Down", Santa Fe was the best place in Lawton, and if we didn't like it, our room that night would be free...no, he didn't say or imply that, but I tried...anyway-

Thursday, Oct 14 around 6 wasn't over busy and we were seated immediately with a bucket of peanuts in the shell, very fresh. Lauren, our server was at our table as soon as the hostess had left despite it appeared all her tables of responsibility were occupied by four or more. She patiently listened to my challenging order, I wanted the bbq sauce to nicely and lightly caramelized with the meat within remaining moist and tender. She left to get our drinks and give us time to make our choices for sides. A gentleman named Tim came to our table and comfirmed how I wanted the bbq. He promised upon getting the order, he could prepare the meat as requested.

I was full of bad jokes that comes from alot of traveling and tiredness but Lauren was great and attentive to everyone around us. As we waited for our food, she brought us hot rolls and cinnamon butter to go with our peanuts.

Our orders were perfectly served. The ribeye was cooked precisely as requested and the best tasting steak I've had away from my house in fifteen years. I wonder if they inject or simply marinade the meat as part of the preperation, the flavor permeated the thick steak throughout. My bbq ribs were perfect. Color, flavor, texture, and portions were more than expected. Our mushrooms, sweet potato, sauteed pepper/onions, and broccoli and cheese were very good as well, in that order. One other thing, Twenty years ago, I experimented with 6 long island ice tea recipies before I settled on one and refined it to taste...I will be looking for a new one now....if anyone ever figures out what's in their Redneck Ice Tea, Please Message me!

If you are fortunate enough to visit Lawton Ok, there is much to see and appreciate, but for steak and ribs with a side of good service and patient, genuine smiles, you have to go to Santa Fe Cattle Co. or you're just cheating yourself. Tim, Lauren, you were great and thank you so much for putting up with us and serving us so well. I look forward to SFCC opening in the Tidewater Virginia area someday.
