Tips for Middleburg Steak House

Reply to Sherry. Hello, I am one of the owners of Middleburg Steak House. I would like to take the time to reply to Sherry's review and separate fact from fiction. The steak house has been under the same ownership for 34 years. We serve only USDA CHOICE BEEF OR HIGHER. Our ribeyes are Omaha brand mid-western grain fed beef and our filet mignons are Sterling Silver. If you would like to investigate those brands feel free, I assure you they are the best money can buy. We also offer NY Strips, Porterhouses, Sirloins, Prime Rib, and more. As far as sizing goes, Our ribeyes are offered in 6, 8, 10, 12, and 16 ounce cuts. Our filets are offered in 6, 8 and 10 ounce cuts and both our ribeyes and our filets can be cut larger by request. The salad bar is the SAME salad bar that we have had for 34 years. It offers 7 dressings, 3 of those being homemade, cucumbers, tomatoes, onion, green pepper, eggs, cheese, pasta salad, dill pickle, green and black olives, carrots, sweet pickle, banana peppers, cherry peppers, cottage cheese, peaches, pineapple, sardines, croutons, bacon, potato sticks, french fried onions, peanuts, oil and vinegar, a black pepper mill, and our lettuce is an iceburg / romaine blend. I don't know what you were looking for on our salad bar that you couldn't find but I do feel that we offer more than an adequate selection. We still use the SAME charcoal grill that was installed back in 1976 with real charcoal that we buy in 20 pound bags every week. I am sorry if for some reason you had a bad experience with us, we are always willing to correct any mistakes so that you leave us happy. I do find it interesting though that we have been in Middleburg for 34 years and we have no idea who you are and you obviously have no idea what we offer.

Middleburg Steakhouse. If I could NOT give this restaurant ANY stars this would be the one, but you have to rate at least one, though it really doesn't deserve that.

I have lived in the town of Middleburg for 36 years now and have frequented Middleburg Steak House several times. So you can pretty much say I am a local and know where the best places are to eat when asked.

I will have to say that things are NOT what they once were. The steakhouse really had some GREAT steaks at one time...nice big juice steaks..cooked to your perfection. But not anymore.

Today, they are small (6, 8 oz unless you pay for the filet mignon or upper more expensive items), there is grizzle and too much fat. I miss the charcoal taste I use to love about their food as well.

The salad bar has really become a joke because it is so small. Seven salad dressings, one lettuce choice, eggs, one cheese choice, one tomato choice, and other "basic" indredients. No fresh fruit is offered though if you like something from a can, they have canned peachs, and pineapple. It would seem they are pushing salad dressing.

Middleburg Steakhouse, granted does have the ambience with its rustic atmosphere , but most people go out to EAT, not to just spend their hard earned money on what is in their view.

I also would like to say that if you ask other locals around town , Henderson & Oxford, you will undoubtly get the same review. For you out-of-towners, take this advise.

It's worth the drive. My husband and I saw it featured on "NC Weekend" (UNCTV) and knew we had to check it out. Their steaks are some of the best we've had in the area - seasoned, cooked just right and amazingly juicy! The atmopshere is great fun - not formal. It's great for a group dinner.
