Rude Waitresses. Some of the staff needs diversity and customer service training. A man was yelled at (literally) by a waitress while holding two kids when he sat at a dirty booth temporarily to take a load off while waiting in a very long line for a table...waitress was RUDE, IGNORANT, and UNPROFESSIONAL. No barbecue is worth enduring that type of treatment. If I could give less than one star I would for poor attitude alone. Too bad that one bad apple really does spoil the bunch. I'd only eat there again if I knew that particular waitress was fired...too bad because the food is delicious.…
Best BBQ Period. This is the best BBQ in Lexington, and indeed my all time favorite. Order the coarse chopped with extra brown and you won't go wrong. Juicy, flavorful and perfect. The bad reviews on here all mention Speedy's - makes me think they were written by an owner or relative. Listen, instead of trying to tear down your superior competition, why don't you try to make better BBQ so you can compete? Does Speedy's even have a smokehouse anymore?…
Ok BBQ. We drove 50 miles just to eat there, BBQ, was good, not great & terribly overpriced, hush puppies were wonderful, didn't like the BBQ slaw at all but I prefer white slaw. I must say the service is the best I have ever received in a restaurant, they definitely get 5 stars for that, if you are in Lexington area looking for a place give it a try but it's not as good as Speedy's.…
Best Barbeque in North Carolina.
I have been going to Lexington BBQ since I was old enough to eat solid food (that's a long darn time!). I grew up in Asheboro, NC, and lunch at Lexington #1 was a regular Saturday treat (it was
originally named after the owner). Even with their additions and modern conveniences in the kitchen, the 'que is as fresh and as tasty as I remember.
Our family grew up eating the sliced barbeque there because you could really bite into all the flavor of the pork. I still prefer it to the chopped, but the chopped is awesome too! The slaw is BBQ slaw - don't expect white slaw with your 'que. The hushpubbies are crispy, hot, and divine! There's just not much more you can say about a great barbeque meal.
Over the years I have enjoyed other things at Lexington #1, but nothing as much as a sliced plate piled high with mouth-watering goodness. It is worth the gas and the time to drive over to Lexington to get the original.
If you like eastern NC barbeque, Memphis ribs and 'que, or Texas' barbeque, you won't find it here. This is WESTERN NC barbeque at its BEST!!…
Good Barbeque.
You've heard of em. You know where they are, and you are wondering if it is worth the drive. Well folks...all I can say is that it is all about the attitude and sense of adventure. Yes, it really
is just pulled pork, but that is the beauty of it. Simple food cooked well. No brisket...no ribs....shoot! No chicken (much to my hubby's dismay)
But there is heart and soul in that cedar slow roasted pork. And you drive all this way, not just for the bbq sandwich, hushpuppies and Cherwine (or sweet tea I guess) You make the trip to visit the quaint shops and go searching for the pigs. You do it for the smiles. If you just want a sandwich...go to McyDs. If you want a really good pork sandwich and an experience...then Lexington BBQ is the right place. ( No I don't work for them...I just love 'em!)…
