do everything you can to NOT go with optimum. the only reason they get one star is becaue you can't select 0

Their technician came out to install our equipment. He informed us that he had had an extremely difficult customer and that was the reason he was 2 HOURS LATE, then continued to talk bad about the previous customer. He quickly did the bare minimum and left my house saying "it's time for a beer" ~ I fail to see any professionalism in that whatsoever.

Once he left it became clear to me that he had not checked any of our services to make sure his simple task was complete. It wasn't until a week later that another person could come and finish his job.

I was informed by multiple people through customer service that I would not be charged for the first week of service, now that I got my bill, it is clear that that was a blatent lie.

I'm in search of another provider, if I can't find one, I will go without!!!

Optimum service overhead. Be forewarned that paying your bills online is an unnecessary struggle, allow at least a full week...let me explain.

You are first required to set up an online account with optimum...simple. Next you need to set up that account for online billing...ok. When you get into this process you are required to have this mysterious pin on top of your other personal information. The pin is not in your bill or crappy slow optimum email account that you are REQUIRED to open. You have to email customer service to get a pin or call them. I decided to email them thinking it would be an easy fast process. Email had a 2 day process time at which point they reply to your email that they are SNAIL MAILING a pin...thanks guys my bill is due in 4 days. You can also call them to get your pin - so I call. They gather all your personal information and then surprise surprise they aren't allowed to give you the pin unless you give them a number that's on the back of some of the cable equipment they installed. Apparently social security number is less secure than this equipment stamp. As I'm obviously not calling from home and work during business hours I don't have access to this silly number. I requested they send it to the email associated with the account and they cant. The only logical reason I see for all of this overhead is to delay bill payment and collect some extra late fees. Get real Optimum, if the big websites required this bull *%&$ they would not have any customers.

I also experienced a late equipment install from a very unprofessional technician. The optimum sales people also try to sell you a bunch of hidden extra fees in your service. Be ware that all of the standard and upgrade hardware is a MONTHLY fee. The sales lady misrepresented the content available in the different packages. Just be ready for a typical pushy sales interaction where they try to get as much of your money as they can. This company would not have my business if there was a local alternative.
