Great Food and Great Atmosphere
by Love2dine at Citysearch
I had visited Palio's back when it was Max Steins and love that they took the stuffiness down a few notches. You can still find amazing steaks on their menu but as an italian grill, there is more to love! The pastas are delicious and the servings are huge. Some may say this place is "cheesy" but I suspect they don't know how to have fun and let loose! The atmosphere is relaxed and the service was great. Our server was very attentive, knew about all the wines, and made wonderful suggestions. What more could you ask for? I like the ambiance of the restaurant and the lighting makes you feel a little bit of the city out in the burbs. From appetizers to the main course and topped off with dessert the flavors and ingredients used are unlike anything you can normally find outside the city. This ain't the olive garden people! This is a little piece of authentic italian mixed with hip North End vibes. I suggest everyone visit and see for yourselves how great a place this is!
- Pros: Yummy garlic and focaccia - Hip lounge area
- Cons: off the beaten path - but worth driving for!
HORRID

Seriously can you please add an option to give NO STARS??? This has to be by far the WORST food I have ever eaten! What a disgrace to call yourself an Italian "grille" . Never in my life have I ever seen 6 people walk into a restaurant, take one bite of their entrees and look at each other in disgust! The service wasn't the best either. The waitress was nice and attentive at first but later was lost in the crowd, or shall I say, lack there of! There is no excuse for empty glasses when the restaurants had barely any tables filled. Appetizers were good and left us wondering what our dinner's would be like. One word.. HORRID. The sauce tasted like a bad jar of ragu with cilantro mixed in. The chicken parm was the thinnest piece of chicken that is crumbled over the pasta. The meatballs tasted some what like they were frozen yet some how they came out half raw to our table. Portions were a great size if the was actually eatable. The manager had a very confused look on his face once he realized all 6 of us were not pleased! I could literally go on for hours but the truth of the matter is, by now, you should get the point! This place is NOT worth your time, money or appetite. Go somewhere else to get Italian, this place was a JOKE! Thank you Palio's for a night we will NEVER forget....
- Pros: Nothing!!
- Cons: Nothing!!
