Orange chicken and fried rice. I'm not exactly worldly, but this is the best Chinese food I've ever had. Service is hit or miss, but it's sooo worth it.
The Chinese food here CAN be authentic! You just need to be able to read Chinese :-) My friend and I had 'spicy boiled fish', and 'dry cooked pork', both spicy. Both authentic. BUt may not be for everyone... I have liked Singaporean fried rice noodle before. Big portion. ONe serving is enough for both my husband and I. Curry-y and spicy too. If you want authenitic Chinese food, this is the place. BUt go with someone who can read the Chinese menu. And go with big appetite. Probably 4 people ordering 2-3 dish is a good way to do it. In the basement, now there is a Asian market. Has lots of real Chinese flavorings and spices, if you want to try your hand at Chinese cooking, this is a good place to get ingredients. And their price on produce is better than local grocery stores.
Jingo's was made for a college town! All entrees are in the $6-8 range. They're open until midnight every night (except Saturday when they're opened until 2 a.m.!). The food is good. It won't blow your mind, but it's very solid Chinese food. My dish was supposed to have cashews in it, and to remedy their absence, my waitress brought out a plate with literally 5 cashews for me to dump into the dish. Nonetheless, I will have no reservations about returning here; the food is good and the prices rock!
My wife and I stopped into Jingo's for some late take-out after dropping kids off at Mizzou. It took about 30 minutes to get food, but the food was very good and pretty reasonably priced. I traveled to China regularly for many years and love authentic Chinese food, so was happy to find a good Chinese restaurant in Columbia. I will definitely go back on future trip to Mizzou.
you should check out their awesome lunch specials!! $.55 off!
Quick review because this isn't my town. Wandered around looking for a place the night of new years day, walked all the way down to a Chinese joint that turned out to be closed, came back and saw that Jingos was open. And we ate food. And it was glorious.
Some people's food was fair, I will admit. Mine wasn't. I steallthily and skillfully talked the table of ordering Crab Rangoon as a starter. Good intentions: I we had been wandering for a half hour in the cold and we were HUNGRY, and a starter would come out fast. Less honorable intentions: I wanted some but didn't want to have to pay for it all myself. Turns out it worked out both ways, it was enough to share, and they were fab.
I had the General Tao's chicken. It was the best Chinese food dish I'd ever gotten at any restaurant ever. No exceptions, no exaggeration. I like my food spicy, it was spicy without being overpowering. The flavor was good, the rice was good. Everything about my meal was satisfying, and this from a guy who doesn't Chinese food.
Jingos saved New Years, and my food was FAN-TAS-TIC
It can be hard to rate chinese food, b/c every has different tastes and not every chinese restaurant is the same. I know I can be very picky about my chinese, but I really like this place.
I tend to order online a lot. I really like their egg drops and I like that there sweet & sour sauce has a little tang to it.
The main reason I this place 5 stars over 4 is b/c of there low prices and how much food they give you.
Another reason i like them is that if say they mess up on even the tiniest thing tor if they just feel like it they will just throw in free food like rice.
They do tend to take a long time to deliver but like i said before they usually throw in a lot of free food. (atleast they do for me)
This place is great! The price is very reasonable. The food is fantastic. The staff is extremely friendly. They are located right above an Asian market, so you can get lots of other awesome stuff when you stop by. I got the Sesame Chicken Lunch Special (I posted a picture of this as well) to go. You get lots of food with it, for a crazy low price of $5.96. I think the best part about the Sesame Chicken is that all of the pieces of chicken are small/medium sized, so they get a perfect, slightly crunchy outside. The sauce is not just a plain "sweet" sauce, but rather is delicious peanut sauce with a slight spice kick. How can you go wrong!?
My only complaint with New Jingo's would be that they are not the fastest chinese takeout place. It takes about half an hour for a lunch special order if they aren't too busy. So just make sure you order ahead! But trust me, it is WELL worth the wait!
Also, they are open til 2am Thursday through Saturday! Cannot suggest this place enough!
I think New Jingo's is the best Chinese restaurant in Columbia, well at least for delivery. However, delivery takes at least twice the estimated time (I've waited 2 hours before). But as far as food, it's delicious!! I normally order the beef with garlic sauce with white rice and crab Rangoon (which are great!). Their garlic sauce is wonderful. It has a spicy bite but its not over powering at all, and it makes the rice taste even better!
Today I switched it up and ordered the chicken with mushrooms and I was a bit disappointed. There were only like 6 pieces of chicken and a TON of mushrooms, and there wasn't a lot of flavor. I assume the amount of chicken was bc it was a lunch special but I thought I was getting chicken with mushrooms, not mushrooms with chicken.
