The Scene – Operating in the shadow of destination giants Boyne Mountain and Boyne Highlands, the lesser-known Nub's carries its share of local sentiment. But it's not a locals-only area. Even though there's no lodging on the property, Nub's sits just north of the resort town Petoskey, Mich., and within earshot of the Highland's cookie-cutter chalets. – – The Slopes – There are three separate ski zones. Growing up on the east coast and sking in VT, NH and ME for years, the mid-west does not compare based on size of the mountain / hill! If however you do not want to drive to Canada or Lake Placid and you want get some good sking in - no one does it better than Nubs. They have awesome snow making - when its cold they are making snow.
Great learn to ski/board programs, new snow board park and an amazing cafeteria!
- Pros: great grooming, awesome snow making, best in mid-west
- Cons: , limited apres ski
best pipe/park in midwest

Of all the ski resorts I've been to, I keep returning to Nub's. They have a great setup, it's easy to find people as the runs all connect into three areas (and the colored lifts really help!). The staff rocks, always present and helpful even ski patrol which is always easy to find. And for being a family resort in the mid west they manage to maintain great steeps, race courses, and an awesome terrain park. The constant improvements in the terrain park are really impressive, last year the big scary jump, became darwfed overnight with the arvial of the mega new jump. It's also nice to see how well Nubs accomadates locals the ski and snowboard teams from nearby towns all use the hill and even get it to themselves. Even the non skiing members of the group aren't left high and dry, the caffeteria offers great food.
- Pros: Great Park/Pipe, Racing opportunites
