A delightful menu, which includes a succulent London broil and the best flash-fried calamari in the state, are just part of the White Horse Inn's charm. Great Place For Excellent Food and Gracious Service

by BetKraj

Heard many great comments about the White Horse for many years. Decided to give it a try. Food was amazing. House salad delicious, crisp and cold. Served with a sweet/sour housemade dressing. It ablsolutely was the BEST pan fried Michigan Lake Perch I have ever had. My guest had the "Best Burger in Mid Michigan". 1/2 pound served on a roll that tasted like a pretzel. To top the visit off, our server arranged for the owner to take us on a private tour of the 159 year old historic building. I can't wait to go back.

  • Pros: Tim Wilkins-Owner personally will take you on historic tour

An experience we will never forget!

by hmomsports

My entire family took my mother to the White Horse to celebrate her 80th birthday. When we arrived my brother realized that he forgot to make a reservation for our family celebration. We had a party of 12! As it was, a 30 minute wait was being quoted for a party of 4 or less, 12 could be over an hour. The hostess graciously offered to get one of the owners. To our unexpected surprise he offered to give us the only available space in the buidling, a private room upstairs. Clearly he could see the disappointment of my mom and the heat my brother was getting from all of us. Tim Wilkins (the White Horse Owner) saved the day. He checked with a server who was heading home to see if she would stay for our party. She did and our celebration went on as planned. The food was great. We sampled 5 appetizers and the calamari was the best I have ever had. Service was excellent. And at the end of the meal the owner presented my mom an 80th birthday present - a leatherbound history book of Metamora which included information on the history of the White Horse and a piece of white chocolate in the shape of a horse head. We later found out, when we called to thank him the next day that our server overheard my mom sharing the story at the table of meeting my dad (who has since passed away) at the White Horse Inn and shared it with owners. We all had an experience that we will never forget.

Don't GO!!! RUDE OWNERS.....1.25 HR DELAY IN FOOD

by minoname

Owners Lisa and Tim Wilkens should re-read their restaurant motto and re-read their manuals of their consulting business. On 12/14/07, we waited over 1 1/4 hours for our dinner to be served. When the owners were notified, they were rude and cared less about customer service. The haunted ghost Lorenzo living in the building must have entered the owners body that night...........he was scarry! Don't go.................even if the good food reviews tempt you............the service stinks!

  • Cons: Rude Owners...no customer service
