this is in response to ginger you snap when you decided to diss on trini and carmens, first of all they have always charged for extra chips we have bin going to that location for years and it has always said that on the menu. second we always get free refills clearly you have a budget problem and need to stay going through the taco bell drive through.

Trini's is FABULOUS!

I always look forward to coming back to Trini & Carmen's. It is a long drive for me, but well worth it. For starters, you get complimentary fresh chips and salsa, both superb. Sometimes the chips are still warm from being fresh from the oven. I have yet to find a Mexican restaurant with better food, and I have tried mightily - including Mex Town. My favorite is the big steak burrito, but all of the food is great. The only negative I can come up with is the condition of the building and decor; they really should renovate as it is a bit dumpy. I'm more concerned with the quality of the food and service though, so I'm not too concerned with the building.

• Cons: I always eat too much & the building needs a makeover

Best Mexican food in the Detroit Area

The food at Trini and Carmen's is great in my opinion. Their Salsa in particular is the best I've had at any Mexican resturant. The home made chips are also great. Too many places serve what appears to be bulk chips bought from Gordon Foods. They are OK but not as good as home made. I am a vegetarian and appreciate having some variety in what I can order. I especially like the burritos and tostadas. The vast majority of the time that I have been there, the place has been clean and the wait staff very friendly. Once in a while on a Friday when there is a line out the door, the floor can get a little dirty but that is far from the norm. It was recently remodeled with new chairs and booths as well as completely repainted. The pricing is very reasonable. It costs me less to have dinner there than to go to a sit down burger place and eat salad.
