In Short – This Livonia mainstay has fed generations of families for years. Its hacienda-like interior has warm lighting and well-worn tables. El Nibble Nook specializes in Mexican, but it also serves classic American fare, including steaks. Popular dishes include the black bean soup, seafood burritos, tostadas and beef enchiladas. A perfect accompaniment is the margarita, a mix of salty and sweet that works with any meal.
Changes for the bad

Was an avid fan 30 years ago. Went back to taste my favorite dish the botana. Much, much, much smaller portion and has radically changed. The food order came quickly but was missing an idea. The waitress only came back to clear the table and drop off the check - so I told her to delete the missing idea and which she disappeared again. Finally came back to give us the check and said she would take it so I said here is the payment and she disappeared again. Memories were great but will never go back again. I
am sorry that everything changed so much.
I am giving it one star for the prompt service.
- Pros: quick service
- Cons: lousy food and bad service
Good service.

It behooves me how someone visiting from Southern California would actually seek out a Mexican Restaurant in Detroit and expect great things! I grew up in Detroit. In the early 70?s, my girlfriend and I went to El Nibble Nook on Grand River a couple times. Having not experienced Mexican food at a nice sit down restaurant before, we thought the food was wonderful! The servers were dressed in cute black outfits trying desperately to pass as senoritas even though most of them were Italian. The flavors of cumin, cilantro, lime and garlic were lacking but were substituted by hot sauce and red peppers. At that time it didn?t matter. Spicy food and alcohol satisfied our ethnic cravings.
Well, I?ve been living in Colorado since the mid 70?s. I wouldn?t think of going to a soul food restaurant here. You?ve heard the expression, ?When in Rome?? If you?re in Italy looking for good Chinese food, you?ll probably be disappointed. So next time you?re in Detroit, search out the restaurants where a good portion of the population eats. Detroit has some of the best Coney joints anywhere, not to mention the great Polish food in Hamtramck or Greek food in Greek Town. Detroit has a diverse population but last I knew, there wasn?t much of a Mexican presence.
Great service, strong drinks, good food

We were greeted with a warm smile by the hostess and seated immediately. The waitress (Michelle) was very friendly and brought out chips and (mild) salsa immediately. I had a margarita, which arrived in a too small glass but was actually quite strong. The food was served promptly (my california had loads of cheese and shredded meat, my friend's tacos looked excellent) and the waitress checked back with us for refills an appropriate number of times. Not too often and not ignored. Just right. It was an excellent deal. Well priced. I would go here again!
- Pros: Good food, strong drink.
- Cons: Unassuming location on the outside, pretty boring on the inside.
