In Short – A breeze swirls through Duggan's when the windows that overlook Woodward Avenue are open. Patrons never miss a play with the big-screen TV and 13 smaller ones scattered throughout the bar, and its location makes it the perfect spot to watch the Woodward Dream Cruise. The Big Chief burger and the Susie Q fish and chips stand apart from traditional bar food. Twenty-six beers are on tap, along with 37 bottled beers.

Great Food

by ultraagent at Citysearch

Hi...I was born in Royal Oak and was cruising Woodward Ave in the '60s. The Totem Pole was one of many drive-ins we cruised. Duggan's bought the original recipes for many of their best foods. I was there in August and eat there twice.

I must when you are in Royal Oak....

  • Pros: Best for Totem Pole Food
  • Cons: none

uncomfortbly warm inside

by dawneesha at Citysearch

Under a normal circumstance you would assume that a restaurant such as this, would make certain to control the amount of heat or air conditioning in the environment. I was just at Duggan's yesterday, and the temperature in the bar area was well above 80 degrees and counting.

Note, there are ceiling fans above and they were set on low. When asked if they could open a door to let a little air in, the bartender stated that he could not, because there was a fire code in place. When asked if they could turn the ceiling fans up a notch to cool the place down, he stressed it would scatter the popcorn around and suggested that we buy more drinks...

Well, we had ordered 4 rounds of drinks already and appetizers, so to hear that remark seemed a "little cocky" and "disturbing", I would say. Now, the food was delicious, but who is to say, that it could have easily spoiled in the the existing heat, the longer we sat there. Not to mention, they could invest in reupholstering their booth pads...For heaven sake, when you sit into the cushion, you feel coils underneath and their is virtually little padding left. You simply sink lower than the table itself.

There are so many other nice Irish Taverns on Woodward and in Royal Oak and Birmingham. I will make certain to visit the others more often. But, Duggon's should be ashamed of themselves.Such a shame really,it has such potential otherwise. Shoddy & uncomfortable inside =2 star service

  • Pros: The food was good, and so was the menu
  • Cons: The bartender was rude, when asked if the fans could be turned up, when the temperatures was nearly 90 degrees inside he said he would not.
