In Short – A lunch rush from downtown Birmingham and beyond herd in, but the wait and the heartburn is minimal in the end. Athens Coney Island provides a no-frills menu that doesn't make apologies for its simple yet delicious selections. The coney island is smothered in a rich, sinful chili so good that you will think you are doing something wrong eating it. Fries are of the shoestring variety and work well covered in chili and cheese.

Great food and service, but not a great atmosphere

We ate lunch at the Athens on a recent Saturday. The food was delicious (I recommend the spinach pie) and our server was one of the most pleasant & friendly we've ever encountered. However, the "strolling magician" kept bothering us (he was an incredibly annoying person) and the floor could have used a good washing. The noise level is quite high, too....

great coney island hot dogs i wouldn't say they have the best hamburgers there are some real great bars with better burgers
