In Short – From the name, to the mannequin in 18th-century British military garb in the entrance, patrons know that this is a restaurant with a theme. The dimly-lit interior is relaxing and a great background for the classic food offerings. Pub comfort food is the staple; hamburgers, onion rings, fish and chips, sandwiches and prime rib. It's famous for its burgers and deservedly so, as the juicy, delicious original Red Coat special has a sizable following. –

Good burgers

by Debbie516 at Citysearch

Burgers are delicious. Love to dip my fries in the burger sauce. I don't enjoy how crowded it always is & how there is no comfortable place to wait.

  • Pros: good burgers & fries
  • Cons: always have to wait & seats are too close together

The ONLY Place for Burgers

by mj2004 at Citysearch

Here's the deal - you don't go here if you want romance or if you don't want to wait. You go when you want the greatest burger there is and you're up for the wait and the crowd. It's a fun atmosphere and the low lighting with the red tint is part of it all. They've been around for as long as I can remember the crowd is a sign of how good their food is. The burgers are the absolute best - I've never had a better one. You can order the Piedmontese beef ifor an extra $2 f you want a burger with less fat than chicken and they taste the same as the regular burgers. They have the thin crisp fries that I don't think can be beat either. The orders are big - one order is enough for two people especially since the burgers are large as well. You can oder a number of toppings for your burger. Try the zip sauce, it's awesome. My daughter and I always split a burger so we can have room for the Tenderloin Tips that are served with a cajun zip sauce and toasted pumpernickle bread. My husband always orders a side of the sauce for dipping his fries. The burgers, fries, tenderloin tips, and chili are fantastic. We haven't ordered much more, but friends have tried the Mt. Vernon sandwich and the fish and chips and loved them.

Call ahead to get your name on the list and your wait will be shorter. Order a drink at the bar and relax while you're waiting. Don't be alarmed if a bartender won't even look at you for the first few minutes you're standing there, they'll look at you when they're ready to take your order. You won't be seated until your whole party is there and the seating is crowded. You can request a both if you want more privacy. They've recently added free valet parking which I think is a bad idea, but it is what it is. It's a bit pricey for burgers, but it really is worth it all. Go with the right attitude and expectations and you shouldn't be disappointed!

  • Pros: The food
  • Cons: Be prepared to wait, a bit pricey but worth it, and valet parking that is free other than tipping
