Tips for American Appliance Svc

They replaced my garbage disposal today but didn't bother to hook the hose back up. I realized this when I ran the disposal and water and the food I put down it ran all over my kitchen floor. The cabinet under the sink was flooded. I called and they told me no one could get here until tomorrow, so now one of us has to stay home from work AGAIN to wait for them.

Besides that, the technician reeked of cigarette smoke and my house stunk for hours after he left.

No complaints. I'm writing this because I had to phone them today to work on my machine. It reminded me of my last service call by them back in 2008. The gentleman who called seemed very knowledgeable, but found that the machine was working properly when he checked it. It was not working for us well, and there was a burnt rubber odor. He said if it acted up again, he would credit the $69 toward any repair work it needed. I thought that was fair. Luckily, it worked for another two years. I'll write a second review after they come Monday. Currently, the machine won't drain.

Excellent Service. When my ice maker decided to stop working, I called American Appliance to schedule a service call, they had a technician at my house the next morning who was able to determine exactly what the problem was and repair it. The technician was very friendly and knowledgeable in explaining to me what needed to be done. I would definitely use this company again.

Misleading. I called to explore the possibility of repair instead of replace.Given the particular problem I was given a price range to repair. The repair person who obviously didn't know the specific cure proposed ordering a number of parts. It was clear he was just throwing parts at the problem in hopes something would work. Then would not leave unless he had a check for $69.95.This was never mentioned beforehand and he had fixed nothing.

The eventual proposed repair was within $50 of a new appliance and almost twice the original

estimate.

This was not rocket science and the repair and part turned out to be simple even for a novice.I bought the

part on-line for a fraction of the price and had it in 2 days.

These people are slippery at best.Find someone else to do your repairs.

Unprofessional and rude. Please think twice before doing business with this outfit. I should have been tipped off when my initial call to them was disconnected three times. I made an appointment to have my malfunctioning washing machine looked at. I was given a time and date, and made arrangements to be at home. The repair person diagnosed the problem within minutes. I had given a description of the problem over the phone, so I imagine that the company had formed a pretty good opinion as to what was wrong beforehand. Anyway, the estimate to repair was high enough to make purchasing a new machine a better option. What I resented was having to pay a $69.95 "service fee" for the diagnosis. I had never been told when I called about this policy. Had I been, I could have done some research on-line and figured things out for myself. The repairman was understanding, but had no authority to waive the fee. He suggested that I call the office, which I did. The man who answered the phone was rude and unwaivering. He conceded that I should have been told of the policy, but they had probably been "too busy" to do so at the time. I could have refused to write a check and have them take me to small claims court where I think the lack of notice would defeat their claim. Instead, I decided to pay them the money, and never to do business with them again. A very unpleasant experience.

They charge, but do not repair and not returning calls. They diagnosed my dryer that was not working and scheduled to come back with the part they needed. After 2 no shows, a guy finally came to fix it and handed me a bill that was $30 more than they had quoted. ( which, btw, meant the labor charge $129 for 40 minutes incl both visits! ) Okay, but then, the worst part is that within a week it was no longer working. When I called to tell them this, they said they'd come back, but it might be more money if their diagnosis was incorrect to start with. No sense of them standing behind th repair AT ALL! And then they did another no show! I have called them twice since that no show, and the guy I was speaking to "is out" and no calls back.
