In Short
With its never-ending menu of affordable, generously-portioned pasta dishes and sandwiches, Mike's is a favorite of the thousands of youngsters who call Davis Square home. Full dinners (chicken parm, veal marsala, sausage cacciatore) cost around $12, are big enough for two and come with a garden salad and garlic bread. Pizzas and subs also prove popular, and other menu options include quarter-pound beef burgers and cheap cups of draft beer.

Mike??????s has an exceptional menu selection, which also includes a great drink selection. Over the summer Mike??????s takes down their walls, which makes it a great place to go on weekend summer nights. Mike??????s has several large screen t.v.??????s which makes it a great place to eat-in and watch New England sports.

I had received a gift certificate to Mike's from my real estate agent as a housewarming present, and the girl at the counter was a biyatch when I went to go use it. She said that if I purchased less food than the face value on the certificate I would forfeit the remainder (I insisted she must be wrong until she *finally* went to get the manager - who agreed with me.) And then the pizza and salad were barely mediocre. I ordered club soda and they charged me $5 for a bottle of Pellegrino. This place is a dive - what are they doing even serving Pellegrino? Anyway, I found absolutely nothing redeeming about my experience, so I guess I won't use the rest of my gift certificate after all.

Think of your sub shop favorites, now add a few more menu items like pasta dinners, pizzas, burgers, fresh salads, breakfast (eggs, home fries, the real deal), all varieties of deep fried fare (fries, onion rings, poppers, clam strips) and deserts (pies and cakes from a local pastry shop) to name a few and you have an idea of what to expect from Mike's Restaurant. The place is pretty large, minutes from the T (you can see it from the windows), squicky clean and serves up good simple food fast and cheaply. What more could you ask for from a local greasy spoon? They also have a couple of large TV's so you can watch the game while enjoying your pizza. They are definitely Sox fans here, though, so take off your NY caps before going in.
