The Scene
With over a dozen locations in the greater Boston area, diners don't have to travel far to enjoy a fast, affordable meal of brick oven pizza, fresh salads, and pasta dishes. Regardless of the location, expect to see many families--kids are given raw dough to play with--and young couples on dates. Servers are more than happy to keep refilling baskets of the excellent oven-warm rolls. A pedestrian wine and beer list is available, though most diners opt for soft drinks or water.
The Food
Bertucci's deservedly prides itself on serving up consistently tasty pies with above-average toppings like carmelized onions, roasted zucchini and portobello mushrooms. Because they're wood-fired in a brick oven, the pies have a wonderfully smoky, crunchy crust. Standard antipasto plates and large salads are popular choices to start a meal. Desserts (boring tiramisu, creamy gelato) are better enjoyed elsewhere.

I thought that the pasta and the fettuccine were downright unpleasant. I paid about $12 for each, and I would have been much happier at a place like Olive Garden. It took forever for us to be served, and although the bread was great, we had to ask for it. Also, sitting right where the servers put the dishes was a real turn off. Won't go back.

Good location; bertucci's has great fresh pizza's and also the bread is amazing. It is a great place to go with the family, the prices are not outrageous by any means and the quality is great. good service too.

I ordered penne with broccoli and shrimp and it was unremarkable in every way. The supposedly white wine sauce was very bland; seemed like the three ingredients were boiled separately and tossed together. And the pasta was soggy - there is no excuse for that! The Harvard Sq. branch is getting a little dingy - decor needs updating. Safest bet would be pizza, and get it to go.
