now called the Rodeway Inn, this hotel was clean, the staff was friendly, and they even had laundry facilities (note only 1 washer and 1 dryer) - which was great!
I appreciated the courtesy and professionalism of the staff. The room was clean and had the basics that I required. It was also very quiet, exactly what I asked for.
We stayed here three days. We asked for a room on the 2nd (top) floor. We kept the curtains open at night and it was quiet. The room was clean and the bed was comfy. The pool was in working order and the pool area was dry. Every one at the front desk was nice and wanted to make sure that everything was okay. The ice machine was broke, but the front desk didn't hesitate to give us a bag of ice from the freezer.
Just stayed there this month at a very cheap rate. This was the cheapest in Salem area over the internet and one of the best we have stayed in Salem. Have stayed in many places in Salem over the past years while traveling on business. It is actually a Rodeway Inn, do not know why it is under Best Value inn in Tripadvisor. Just off the 5 freeway. Very clean looking from outside and inside. Nice lobby, great room and nice bed/linens. Breakfast was adequate in the morning. People checking us in were very welcoming and helpful. Overall a very nice place to stay at. Will definitely be staying here next trip.
Stayed here one night while traveling to the Portland area. This property was apparently opened as a Sleep Inn and appears to be fairly new. The exterior of the building could use a power-washing to get rid of some of the accumulated grime. I was pleasantly surprised by the room interior - modern furnishings and fixtures, a clean bathroom, and a decent bed. No mini-fridge or microwave, and no clock radio, and the TV is an older picture-tube model, not a flat screen. However, for the $43 room rate (AAA rate), I consider this quite a bargain. While the interior walls were a bit thin (as I could hear the TV in the next room), the exterior walls and window didn't let in much traffic noise from the adjacent freeway. I'd certainly stay here again when I pass through Salem.
This is now the Rodeway Inn, not Best
Value Inn, and it was great! Easy to find, right off the freeway, awesome rates, and exactly what you would expect from a budget hotel. We were in town for the Renaissance Faire in Silverton, and we had wonderfully prompt and friendly service, including directions to a local store when we needed to run out. We also had a comfortable night's sleep. Spacious rooms (again remembering that this is a budget establishment) and very nice beds. The mattress was softer than I usually prefer, but not so soft that I couldn't sleep, and (knowing some who prefer very soft beds) I'm fairly certain not so firm that those who prefer softer beds. The room and bathroom were clean, and well maintained, and the breakfast was nothing special, but what you would expect for this type of hotel.
If I go to the Faire again next year, I'm sure I'll stay here again!
It is hard to beat the value for what you get here. Stayed here June 2012 during a vacation in Oregon. Hotel was very clean, nice rooms. Looks like it was formerly a Sleep Inn (by the room design & sliding bathroom door) and I'm pretty sure about this because one of their parking signs out front referred to guests of Sleep Inn. They have an indoor pool which my daughter loved. For the price, it can't be beat. I would definitely stay here again if we are ever in Salem, OR again.
This was a perfect stop with a rental truck...after many laps in their great swimming pool, refreshed for the journey. Immaculate throughout, friendly staff. A famous pancake house is a block away, or if you want McDonald's it is there too!
