This was more roomy, cleaner, and had more amenities overall. I have just returned from a road trip through New England. Salem was our first stop and I have to tell you that this motel is getting a BAD RAP! During the trip I stayed at 2 other well reviewed places, one in New Hampshire (Spalding Inn-Whitefield) and the other in Maine (Friendship Inn-Old Orchard Beach) and this was more roomy, cleaner, and had more amenities overall. The owner was so helpful-she even called me in my room to give me a short cut to Gloucester to go to Cape Ann Whale Watch (highly recommended trip). My coffee pot was on the fritz and she quickly delivered a new one to my room personally. She also recommended several restaurants that gave discounts to motel guests. She also gave me a better route back to Philadelphia to bypass all of the Boston traffic. NOT A WICKED WITCH-MORE LIKE GLENDA THE GOOD WITCH. It is not luxurious by any means but it is clean, roomy, and the staff are more than accommodating. My only complaints would be that a TV needs to be added to the living room with more channels and WIFI should be available. If those 2 things were offered this would be a frugal travellers paradise. Be realistic in your expectations and you will not be disappointed-I would recommend this motel to anyone and will return myself if I am ever in the area!

Accommodations Are Fine. We visit our family in Salem every year and have used clipper ship Inn. The accommodations are fine. It is easy to get to all attractions, and has the best rates in the city. I have read all the bad reviews and can honestly say that it is all BULL. The people that complain are not being fair. We know it is not the Waldorf Astoria, but it is clean and there are no bed bugs. The management have always been courtious. I will be staying again for 4 nights this year. Can't wait.

3 nights of fun!. Spent 3 nights.Room was clean and close to area attractions.Pet friendly (love the cats) Staff was friendly and informative.Would stay there again. Now for the town itself. They have unusual hours.Nothing starts till 10:00 am and closes at 5:00.Just not enough time for shopping and museums. So extend your stay to get it all in. Have a great time!!

This hotel is a Gem. I just got off the road from a 4,300 mile road trip. My husband, son and I stayed in several hotels during our travels. Let me tell you, this hotel is a gem. Our room was very clean and the air conditioner worked great. The courtyard of the hotel was well maintained and proved to be a nice place to sit and relax. Quite with a faint hint of sea air. This is not a cookie cutter hotel. Our room was tastefully decorated. The beds were more comfortable than the beds at the 4 star hotel we statyed at the nights before. I slept wonderfully. The clippership is just a short drive from downtown Salem. No trouble at all to get to where you want to go. The night that we where to arrive at the clippership, the manager called us on the road to make sure we were alright and not lost. We where stuck in Boston traffic. She was very helpful with directions. She also had much knowledge about area attractions. I would recommend this hotel to anyone.

Upscale. I occassionally travel to Salem on business and was referred to the Clipper Ship by a friend (I usually stay in chain motels as they tend to be newer). This place is clean as a pin and very well maintained I like to prepare most of my own food and not only want a microwave and fridge but a sink/counter for clean up which they have. Even the coffee is upscale with a Keurig brewer in the room.

Very clean rooms. I have an allergy to perfume, and the staff is very understanding, making sure that the cleaning products they use in our room are unscented. We also prefer minimal housekeeping for the same reason, and have never had any trouble getting exactly what we need in the way of towels, etc., without more than we want while we're there. The rooms are always very clean and nice when we arrive, too.

Best week. I just stayed there for a week. I had the most wonderful time. I don't understand how people can get away with writing such false statements. My week stay I got to know the staff and they were all very helpful and friendly. My room was spacious and extremely clean. I would recommend the Clipper Ship to all my friends. My family and I had a wonderful stay there without any problems.

Very pleased. We were very pleased with our suite at the Clipper Inn. We mistakenly though it would be an efficiency and didn't bring utensils to feed our dog Fred, but the staff, Wanda, gave us plates and spoons which helped a great deal.

Great location & customer service. I've worked on a Continental Airlines for 6 years & come to Salem twice a year & always enjoy my stay at the Clippership Inn & always recommened my coworkers to staying at the Clippership because of the great location & customer service. You could walk into town but after the long day of sight seeing, I recommend taking a cab back. The rooms are great & the staff are always friendly & helpful.

The staff was accommodating. Very clean, we got the family suite even thou its was just the two of us and was very roomy. The staff was accommodating-we were traveling with a car motorcycle and trailer they switch our room so we could be on the bottom floor on the end with our vehicles. Mini mart-liquor store-resturants very close. Its almost a 15 min walk to downtowm Salem which wasn't bad if you don't mind walking. And can't forget Salem and Queenie the welcome commitee which are the cats who live there :)
