“Great food, great atmosphere”
“Both the food and the service were fantastic.”
“We were there to have a romantic dinner and when our waitress noticed that a large (loud) party was going to be seated next to us, she asked us (before the other party was seated) if we would rather move to a quieter spot.”
Going out of Business - the worst management.
We went to the grapevine after several years since we had been there. What a letdown. The food was bland and overpriced $29 for an entree in salem?
We asked to speak to the manager and that is when it went even further downhill. She seemed focused on extracting every last dollar out of customers (probably because they are going out of business).
The restaurant was DEAD - we were the only two tables in there and the decor was stuck in 1980. Very passe.
By the way, don't leave your coat in the coat room. they have hidden a sign inside the door that they are not responsible for lost articles (after they take your coat from you when you walk in) so...if you loose your coat at their unstaffed coatroom it's your problem. Plus it smells like incense in there.…
WORST management!.
My parents have been coming to this restaurant for 15 years and I knew they where going here on New Years Eve with two other couples. I live out of state, so I called and spoke to the so-called
"owner" by the name of Stacy/Stacey/Stacie, however she spells it, and asked if I could pay for my parents' meal, which was a surprise for them. She told me it would be taken care of the way I specifically asked.
After incorrect payments were made, my parents' meal was not paid for and Grapevine wound up taking $100 dollars off of the entire ticket- leaving them to pay for their share which was $120. Essentially, it ruined my whole surprise and also made them feel devalued by me paying a little bit for every person at the table. They felt extremely embarrassed in front of their friends.
I called this morning to address the situation with Stacy to let her know of her mistake and hopefully solve the issue. Not only was she yelling and arguing with me, a paying customer, on the phone, but she was extremely ignorant and unpleasant to deal with. From the way she was rudely speaking to me and became quickly defensive, it seemed as if she didn't care about my situation at all, or her customers' satisfaction.
I work in the service industry as well and would NEVER treat a customer this way or allow my employees to do so. It's unprofessional, and the worst part about this is that Stacy is the owner, so there are no higher personnel to report to for situations like this one. This woman should not be running a business or be allowed to be in charge of customer challenges.
Finally, I would like to add how wonderful my parents' waitress was. Her name is Carolina, and my parents spoke very highly of her.
There is only one boss - the customer - And they can fire everybody in the company from the chairman on down, simply by spending their money somewhere else!!!…
Great food, atmosphere in Salem!. We went there for the first time Saturday evening, meeting friends from Kennebunkport - we are from Newport, RI so this was an ideal dining spot. Excellent service! They seated us promptly, were very attentive to our beverage needs and menu questions, and anticipated our every want and need. (Thanks, Jose!). The food was scrumptious - we had an eclectic mix of Italian, sea food and traditional, and it was all fabulous - especially the Risotto with Scallops. Pricy? You get what you pay for and this was divine. We will be back for this very fine and fun bistro cuisine and atmosphere.…
Great food, great atmosphere.
My husband and I really love this place for a great meal. The first time we went, we brought our son, and though they did their best to accomodate us, it was clear that this is really a date night
kind of place.
When we ventured back without our son, we really had a great time. Both the food and the service were fantastic. We were there to have a romantic dinner and when our waitress noticed that a large (loud) party was going to be seated next to us, she asked us (before the other party was seated) if we would rather move to a quieter spot. She did a great job anticip[ating our wants and needs throughout the dinner.
The food? The food was incredible. From appetizers, to salads, to entrees to dessert... we were not let down once. I highly recommend Grapevine.…
Popular Salem bistro caters to an upscale crowd by offering a Downtown experience..
In Short
Colorful contemporary prints are plastered all over the walls, and the candle-lit tables suggest a kind of romantic intimacy. The menu leans toward Italian, with lots of pastas,
but the execution is more New World than Old, with dishes such as a roasted pork loin stuffed with black olives. Befitting the restaurant's name, there's a solid wine list that contains over 60 bottles.…
