Porto-Bello is definitely a hidden gem. Now that we have discovered this restaurant, we travel about an hour to get there. In order to compare it to other restaurants, my husband ordered a traditional Portuguese meal that he has had at other Portuguese restaurants. It surpassed what he had ordered at other restaurants so he knew all of the other menu items would likely pass muster. I found the sauces in various recipes to be extremely flavorful. We have introduced two other couples to this restaurant and both couples felt as we did that the food was outstanding!
- Pros: Chef is outstanding
- Cons: Service a little slow

WOW! I am of Portuguese heritage and stumbled upon this jewel. After years of going to the Portuguese restaurants in Cambridge, most of which are mediocre (except for the Portugalia which is excellent), I went in search of something new. Upon arriving I fell in love with the atmosphere with all the catalplanas and roosters strewn about. The food was great... I recommend the Alentejana or the Algarvian chicken (done with the perfect amount of spice!). The owner, Arthur was friendly, loved to talk, and provided outstanding service, and even kept the restaurant open an extra hour for us. The food is not cheap, but reasonable for the portion and exceptional quality. A++++++
- Pros: Food, presentation, variety, service
- Cons: not enough Portuguese entrees!!!!!!

Porto-Bello's neon sign and strip mall location belies what is inside. Upon entering Porto-Bello, my dining companion and i felt a sense of warm familiarity as we were greeted by a friendly staff. We truly felt tranported to an intimate, European trattoria! The food was as magnificent as the decor. I have to point out that all food is cooked to order and they are not shy with there portions. Save room for dessert or take one home. I highly recommend it to anyone.
