What People Are Saying About Spare Time Shop
Ridiculously high full retail prices
by Joe216 at Citysearch
Ridiculously high full retail prices plus 6% sales tax.
I've been a twenty year customer and can no longer pay the full retail. Why would anyone? I recently went up there to buy the Trumpeter WR360 and also their high sided rail car. Then I left called Tower Hobby and literally saved $44.69 just on these two models delivered to my door in five days. I love the store and buy supplies there but haven;t bought a model there in 10 years. He's a dinosaur and I don't see how he can survive much longer when we can buy online and save hundreds of dollars per year
- Pros: Has everything
- Cons: So does Tower Hobby for 40 % less everyday
HORRIBLE SERVICE! BUYER BEWARE!!!
by jaysmith2007 at Citysearch
This is one of the few hobby shops open on Sundays. That's about the only good thing I can say about this place. I feel bad giving this place 1 star, but that's the lowest I can select.
I wanted to buy a "Multiplex EasyStar model airplane", but when I called and asked if they had it in stock, the guy who answered rudely asked what I was talking about. I repeated that it was a model airplane, to which he asked if that was something that flew. Before I could answer, he asked if I saw this product on TV. I explained that I had only seen it online and in other hobby stores, but I wanted to buy one today. His reply was that if I had seen it in other stores then I should own one by now. I thought wow, is this guy trying to be rude or what. If it were any other day I might have confronted him about his attitude. However, I was desperate to buy this plane right away, and this was the last store on my list. I ignored his tone and politely explained that it was a Sunday and they were one of the few stores open.
He then asked if I was calling locally. I explained that I was about 30 minutes away, but if they had it in stock that I would be happy to drive over there and buy it today. He interrupted me and started listing off other hobby stores near my area (which were all closed). I told him I had already tried those stores and just wanted to know if he had this plane in stock or not. Then he told me in a very rude manner that I should take my service elsewhere. I almost thought I had called the wrong type of store, but their website has a picture of an isle full of model aircraft.
I still don't know if they have the plane in stock or not, but frankly I don't care. In the future I will be sure to take his advice and bring my service elsewhere. I suggest you do the same!!!
- Pros: Open on Sundays
- Cons: HORRIBLE PEOPLE!
