The Scene
This is one of the most scenic woodland areas of Massachusetts. A clear, cold river cascades through historic Mohawk Trail State Forest along a rocky streambed. In this rustic and natural setting, visitors can get a sense of what it was like when Native Americans inhabited the area.
The Details
The campground contains cabins, as well as individual and group campsites. In addition to campsites, the forest has overnight log cabins. The park has over 18 miles of rivers and streams for excellent trout fishing, a swimming area and a day-use picnic area.

I went to Charlemont, Mass a while ago and it was so amazing! We went white water rafting. Then, after our white water rafting we came back to tables and tables of coldcuts! It was an absolute blast! I would recommend trying it!

yes it's a bit out of the way but well worth it .the signs warning you about bears are there for a reason,I know from personal experiance.but if your a real camper you'll love it-ive met some really nice people there. my dog has always been welcome, with proof of vacinations.one last thing it gets cold in that part of the woods so remember that when packing.I have just realized that some people are confusing this place with the campsite down the street -it's the only way some of these reviews are understandable -the place down the road even has a resturant /bar and is crowded ,RV people go there it's by the indian in prayer the state forest is about 4min up the road and is much nicer you love nature join us up the road in the state forest it's the place to be
Pros: attractions, campsites, the mountans themselv
Cons: bathrooms, bears
