I was grossly overcharged for services, and in hindsight should have disputed the bill right away, but didn’t. I initially scheduled the appointment for the “Tranquil Treat Package” which included a 60 minute massage, 30 minute facial, and manicure. The salon is a little hard to find, and unfortunately I was about 10 minutes late to the spa. When I was on the massage table I was told my massage service would only be 40 minutes. (Would have been nice to know ahead of time). Additionally, the massage therapist used hot stones. I did not request a hot stone massage, and don’t care for hot stones. In the future, I would recommend the massage therapist asking first if the client would like hot stones used. Also, I would recommend the therapist not ask the client what they do for work, or anything about their work while getting a massage (hello! I’m at the spa to get away from work!). As far as the facial, it was fine but definitely BASIC. At other spas, when your mask is drying the esthetician will provide you with a hand and foot massage. At Tranquility the esthetician plopped the mask on my face and left the room. She returned to put the steam on my face, but then left again. I could have had the same service at home using a store-bought mask and a tea kettle. Following my massage and facial I was supposed to have a manicure. There was clearly only one nail technician working, and she had just started a client’s nails. At this point I just wanted to leave the spa and did not feel like waiting a half hour for what (presumably) was going to be another lack-luster service. I asked the receptionist if I could please only pay for the massage and the facial. She told me since I scheduled the full package I had to pay for the full package. So I paid a ridiculous amount for a subpar 40 minute massage and a 30 minute face mask! I know the reviews on Yelp have been mixed for this spa. If you are going to try Tranquility I would recommend only purchasing one service to try it out and see if it is worth purchasing an entire package.
Amazing daycation at Tranquility!!!!. Had a hot rock massage with Nancy over the weekend and WOW!!!!! I walked in with tight muscles and leg cramps from running earlier that morning and walked out like a cooked noodle!!!! Thank you for the opportunity to take a mini-vacation without leaving Watertown!!! I can't wait to book my next massage! (as well as try other services!) A very positive, wonderful experience!!!
VERY NICE NIGHT!. I am happy to see that this salon has a five-star rating. I only could give it four stars since I have not actually had a service here...yet. I attended an anti-aging seminar, for lack of a better work, at Tranquility the other night with a friend and really enjoyed myself. The spa is beautiful...which doesn't mean anything if the service stinks, but you eat with your eyes first, and it really is beautiful and...well...tranquil. For $10 I went and had cocktails and a presentation on how to prevent aging. Of course there was a sales pitch involved, but isn't there always? Plus...they gave gift bags chock full of free samples so you did not really have to buy, and cocktails are always a plus. I found the aesthetician, Leah, very knowledgeable because at 42 years old now, anti-aging has been on my mind for quite a while, and I have been doing my own research for years. I knew she knew what she was talking about, which always lends credence to an establishment. Parking is plentiful. Give this spa a try...I know I will!
Great place for guys too!.
I know a lot of guys feel weird about going to a 'spa', or even talking about different things. Weather it be hair removal, help with spin from shaving, or massage, spas offer guys almost as much as they offer women!
I found Tranquility through an online search, read some reviews, and went to their website. I found it great that even on their website, they dedicated articles and pages to guys specifically (along with male specific services). This was important to me, as it showed they understood their clients and potential clients.
I went in, and Leah was great. Thorough, quick, and VERY good at what she does. I will be going back again, and would recommend anyone else would go too.
The kicker on top of it all? The prices are great. I was worried that moving from Western MA to the Boston area I would be in for a price hike - but not the case. Actually ended up being $1 less than I was used to paying.
Call, go, visit the website, visit in person. VERY well worth it. Linda and Leah are both great people, and you will be very happy you did go!
Wonderful Experience. This was my first time at Tranquility, which is conveniently right in the middle of Watertown Square. The atmosphere is pleasant and relaxing and everyone there was very professional and made me feel comfortable, even for my first time there. I had some waxing services done - best I've ever had. I received spa treatment and really felt pampered. I thought the prices were very reasonable. I will absolutely return.
IF YOU WANT A GREAT SPA..... Best facial I ever had -- and I've had many. Leah is fabulous. Can't wait to go back for more -- and more services. Thanks.
Leah was great!. Leah was fantastic! My brazilian wax was they way everyone wants their wax to be - quick, but thorough. She was very sanitary, which is very important to me. She did a good job talking to me and kept me distracted from actual wax itself. I walked out of the salon probably within a half hour thinking," Yay, I feel clean :-)" Not to mention the two Lindt chocolates that Linda handed to me was definitely a bonus!
Hidden Gem. Had I known that Tranquility was tucked away on Spring Street in Watertown, I may have tried it sooner. I was given a "Mommy to be" gift certificate so I went in to have a prenatal massage and a mani/pedi. I couldn't have been more pleased. What a peaceful, relaxing, cozy experience. I will definitely be going back post-baby for some me time!
Great experience. I recently had a wax with Leah at Tranquility. The staff was super nice and Leah was very thorough and made me comfortable and at ease. I will be back soon!
Tranquility Day Spa. I had a deep tissue massage with Nancy last week, she was very professional and strong, she got rid of all of my stress, the whole experience was very relaxing! I will definitely go again.
