The perfect space for a big breakfast - try the peach French toast & biscuits with bacon gravy. Get half orders & enjoy then both!
One of my favorite spots fro breakfast; southern charm and creativity all wrapped into one. Try the biscuits and gravy and then be ready for a nap!
Mama's Boy is an Athens staple for breakfast & lunch! Beautiful decor, friendly service and daily specials. Be sure to order the salmon cakes eggs benedict or GA peach french toast & grab a glass of their signature strawberry lemonade. You're welcome!
BEST HOURS FOR SIT DOWN BREAKFAST/BRUNCH UNTIL AFTERNOON, BUT DON'T SIT OUTSIDE --TABLES COVERED WITH DOG HAIR AND FLIES – There was a very long wait a few Saturday's ago at Mama's Boy Restaurant in Athens, GA and there was hardly any parking. Not knowing what to expect, we asked for a menu and sat down at an outside table. While looking at the menu, we noticed a lot of flies buzzing around and dog hair on the table. When the server came outside, she set the silverware on this dirty table with dog hair on it without the table being wiped off. I said: "OH NO! We are not going to eat out here!" Okay was the reply and she picked up the silverware and walked off. My first impression wasn't good, but we decided to try it anyway. The tiny place was packed ! The inside decor was too modern and contemporary for Southern dining, and the place looked like a RETRO COFFEE HOUSE--- maybe if the restaurant changed its name to reflect the style inside and menu selection, it would be appropriate, but as it was, this place has a split personality. Thinking since it was southern cooking, my boyfriend ordered a biscuit that he thought would be good. Turns out, the biscuit was shaped really weird and tasted sweet, like it had been made with pancake or waffle batter, so we don't recommend the biscuits! The meal was a little overpriced, but the half order of french toast with bacon and coffee, was just right. Another suggestion: cream in stainless steel container would be nice and also COFFEE MATE packets for those who like that. Dining inside is fine, but I would definitely question the wait staff on their standards of cleanliness. Thankful that our second server was nothing like the first, he dispelled the negative opinion I had about the place. We will come back, but not eat outside. It is a once-and-awhile slow Saturday morning indulgence, but not somewhere we'd want to eat every Saturday or on a regular basis. I hope these suggestions give the manager a little insight from the customer's perspective.
