Mikeys is GOOD

I'm from Chicago and crave this food on a regular basis. They gyro is absolutely awesome and I've tried the other 2 places in town where you can get a real gyro... not to mention numerous places down south. Chicago dogs are authentic as well as the beef. If you like this kind of food go. These guys know what they're doing. The fries... either you love em or hate em.

Mikey's is in a small building slightly set back from the main road and I lived in Wausau 3 years before actually eating there. It looks like a little hole in the wall restaurant and in fact, it is. But it's a hole in the wall completely adorned with 50's memorabilia. James Dean, Elvis, Marylin M, 50's cars, old advertisements, drinks served in the classic glass Coke bottles.
Enough about the atmosphere, which Mikey's has plenty of, the menu is where it's at. Menu items range from Chicago style hot dogs to gyros to Italian beef sandwiches (excellent with hot Giardinera peppers) and more. Food comes fast and it's piping hot. Mikey's has a daily special which includes the item of the day (today was Italian sausage with fried onions, peppers, mozzarella and marinara) and a heaping order of French fries for under $6.00.
I've been bringing everyone I know to Mikey's; it only takes once and they're hooked. If you are in the Wausau area, I strongly recommend.
