Worst bikini wax ever!!!.
Do not go here. I went in for a bikini wax after my old salon closed down. As the wax started, I told the aethestician to tell me where she wanted me to help hold the skin. She said I just needed to relax. The waxing went fine while I was in the salon, but later the skin was very inflamed and sore. I literally had to ice my crotch; it was so painful. I've never had that experience. The pain lasted about three days. It's been almost a week since the waxing, and my skin is still discolored in places and is peeling. I thought the problem was because the skin was not held tight enough when the wax was applied. It's also possible that the wax burned the skin. Not only am I unhappy because I paid $40 for some seriuos pain, but I also don't want anyone else to experience what I did. I think hte aethestician needs training.
To add insult to real injury, I was not able to voice my concern to the management of the salon. I called the salon to report my problem and asked to speak with the manager. The person who answered the phone said she was the manager. I started to tell her about my problem, and she asked a couple of questions. Before I could finish, she asked if she could put me on hold for a moment. I said that was fine. After a few minutes, the aethestician who performed the service came on the line. The aethestician said she thinks I was allergic to the wax. I've never been allergic to wax before. She asked if I was allergice to lavender, and I said no. She gave me some suggestions to soothe the skin, even though I told her that the pain had already subsided.
I will never go here again.
DONT BUY GIFT CERTIFICATES!. I recently received a gift certificate for $100 to use at their spa. I scheduled a massage and found out that it was 40% off and would only cost $60! I was very pleased that I was able to get more bang for my buck. Upon entering the store before my massage, there were signs everywhere saying that they would not accept gift certificates. I told them that they never informed me of this policy--online, when I made the appointment, or on my gift card and I was very upset! I agreed to pay full price for the massage...even though the gift certificate had no rules listed on it. After the massage I asked that a $10 tip be added to my cost on the gift card, but they would not let me use the certificate to tip. I WAS OUTRAGED! The way they treated me was extremely rude and not properly posting their policies about gift certificates on their website and on the certificate allowed for a LOT of confusion. My mother in law purchased it over the phone from KANSAS--how was she supposed to know? I am very displeased with their services and will encourage any customers to go elsewhere. Also, when I asked for Melina, the owner, on multiple occasions, she had magically stepped out of the store....how convenient.
The only place I ever go!!!.
I am actually really shocked at some of these reviews. I have been going to Elysium since they first opened in Brentwood. My husband bought me 5 gift certificates to different spas for facials, and Elysium was my favorite of all of them. I have been a very regular customer ever since. My services have gone from regular facials to everything from eyebrow waxing to massages, facials, hair care, and more. I have never been disappointed by the service or by the cleanliness of the place. I find it a VERY relaxing place to enjoy a massage or a facial, and have found all of their staff to be very professional and accommodating. There have been a few times that someone at the front desk might not be overly friendly, but I have never had anyone be rude or unhelpful. Please give them a try, I really do not think you will be disappointed. I recommend them to all of my friends and have never had anyone say anything negative. Many of my friends are now regulars there. Carrie is an amazing aesthetician, and so is Suesan. Melina (the owner) is extremely friendly, Fairie is a fun and talented hair stylist, and these are just a few of the wonderful people there that I can think of. (sorry if I spelled any names wrong).
Lastly, their prices are extremely reasonable. The waxing services are some of the most affordable around, and done by the best aestheticians. (I personally prefer carrie but suesan is great as well).
give them a shot, I would love to hear what you thought!!!
(btw...i swear i do not work for them LOL)
I'm writing this review in regards to the massage experience at Elysium. I have no experience with the salon portion of this business.
Given the option, I would probably never get a massage by myself because it seems kind of "weird" to me since I'm a male. My girlfriend on the other hand, loves being pampered and absolutely adores getting massages. One Valentine's Day 2 years ago, she introduced me to a concept called a couples massage. Ever since I've been a fan and that's the only way I can convince myself in getting a massage.
Since having been away from where we first met, I had a hard time finding a reputable spa to get massages. Everywhere you look, there are mixed reviews on every spa OR the reviews only focus on the salon portion. Not being able to decide, I chose Elysium because of its proximity in Brentwood.
The experience at Elysium is awesome! We've been several times and we always get the same LMTs (Ashley & Theresa) who do an amazing job. They are very polite and very well knowledgeable in their trade. My girlfriend says that Theresa is the best LMT she's ever had.
I'm not sure why the other reviewers are giving Elysium such a bad review. One of the past reviews said the facility was dirty. I paid attention to this the last time we were there and everything was quite the opposite. Everything was spic and span. While I admit that this salon & spa may not be glamorous like others I have seen, I will definitely give the massage experience & facility a two thumbs up.
Do Not, Under Any Circumstances, Do Business at Elysium Spa. If you choose to purchase a service or product here, you will place yourself at high risk. The facilities are filthy, and their business practices are profoundly suspect. My husband purchased a gift certificate for me, for $150, and I was not going to redeem it here after I saw the facility. They had very few choices of product to purchase. I asked the two staff persons at the counter to refund the gift certificate, and they said they would have to contact the owner. I asked them to contact the owner, and they literally refused to do so, and said it would be unlikely she would refund the cert. I asked to pass a message to her, and they literally refused. I then saw one bottle of a Redken product I use, and asked to order $150 worth of this product, and they said they would try, but never have any idea when the Redken Rep would be around or when the items they order will be in. I asked them to contact the Rep, they refused. I had no choice at this point but to wait for them to order it. I called into the spa several times after this to check on the order, no one had information, and again, they actually refused to allow me to talk to the owner or pass a message to her. Two months of this went by, and I called and was able to talk to the manager. I told her the situation, she said directly that she had never heard of it before, but couldn't guarantee that she could get the product (a common product, it is always stocked in any salon that carries Redken), and likely wouldn't have information on when the product would be in if they could get it. She said she would call the owner. She called me back, left a voice message, which I am keeping as evidence, and said that when it was convenient for the owner (she actually said this) the owner would contact the Redken Rep to see, if possible, if the product could be ordered. She refused to give me the contact information to the Rep. She reiterated it is their policy to not refund gift certificates at any time. She had no estimate of when I would hear from them. It is obvious that there are very suspect practices here, that they will do everything to absorb my $150 in the way that suits them and only them best. They have no interest in working with customers, from the front line staff all the way up to the owner. They still have my money and are forcing my hand. Do not use this spa or salon for product or service, or you could lose your money or contract an illness from their dirty facility.
so-called business!!!. i was going to write a review about this so-called business i walked into, but the other reviews speak for themselves!
Last visit to this spa ever!!. who ever wrote the good review for this place must have been a employee, this place is terrible. the massage room was absolutely filthy! i turned on the light while undressing to check out the room, don't do that unless you want to flee in horror. take a hint and go to massage envy for a massage. the rooms are spotless and the service is amazing. the employees at elysium are snobby and rude. the front desk girl was very rude and didn't seem too pleased to be at work. i can't put into words how much like trash she made me feel. take my advice, if you want to go to a spa that treats you with respect and does services worth the money they are charging, this spa is not the place.
Cozy spa, Great products!!!. I frequent Elysium Day Spa in Brentwood on a monthly basis. Everytime I've gone I've been welcomed by the staff & management, my questions have always been answered professionally and I always love their ever evolving product line. My personal favorites are the Archipelago Candles, Milk products & Lip Fusion lipgloss. This is a one-stop shop with an affordable menu! As far as their Spa services go, I've only had pedicures and facials and have been pleased everytime! The location is uber convenient off the interstate and close to my home as well. If I ever need a gift or a pick-me-up for myself, Elysium Day Spa is my first go-to spot. So many of my other experiences from spas have been stuffy & snobby. One of my co-workers suggested I call the manager, Jen, for an appointment and I've not been disappointed since!!!
AWLFUL. This place is the worse spa I've ever been to. The managers are rude and couldn't answer your questions to save their lives and the services are not worth the money. STAY AWAY!
DO NOT WORK FOR THIS SPA!!!. I worked for this spa earlier this year and it was the worst experience of my life. First of all you WILL NOT make any money unless you have a established clientele because they never have any business. The place is always dead. You will be at the spa the entire day, not making any money and be expected to clean and do laundry. They will pay you $8 a hour if you choose to get paid hourly instead of commission. You probably paid THOUSANDS of dollars going to massage or skin care school and to them you are only worth $8 a hour. And if you happen to have a clientele be prepared to lose them. The rude and unknowledgeable managers at this place will drive them away. Secondly be prepared to have to buy your own massage oil if you're a massage therapist or your own product if you're a esthetician. The managers can NEVER be relyed on to provide you with the bare necessities to do your job. If you run out of something such as face wash or exfolient be prepared to be told to go to Target next door and pick up product. If you look at the products the estheticians use you will see that alot of them are from Target, Loreal and Oil of Olay product usually. They are charging $60 for a facial with stuff you probably already have at home! And lastly beware of Jen the manager. She is VERY lazy and you will not be able to count on her for anything. You will usually find her up front talking on her phone, reading a book, or eating. She has no experience working in a spa but will boss you around and try to tell you how to do your job like she's a pro. NEVER EVER expect her to help out with cleaning or laundry around the spa, "that's not her job" or so she says. This spa is only good for experience on what not to do working in the industry. Consider yourself warned.
