best place to go for japanese. Tobiko has the freshest quality of sushi and meat I ever had. the atmosphere was superior and the staffs were extremely generous and friendly. I went there for dinner on one of their weekend and the staff were very friendly to explain the details of what I want to order. I just want to tell everyone to come here for the best foods and atmosphere in the whole world.
Slow Service + Unhappy manager == never going back again..
First off, I've been to a variety of Japanese restaurants (Sakura in Chelmsford, Fugakyu and Oishii in Brookline). This ranks dead last. I would not recommend going. Perhaps it was because I went on a Saturday night, but customers were not happy (and quite grumpy)! You can be the judge:
7:20p: Show up to hostess being on the phone.
7:22: Still on phone
7:25: Gets off phone. We tell her we have a reservation at 7:30pm. She disappears w/out saying another word.
7:27: Still no one around to help us.
7:30: She comes back and brings us to our seat.
7:35: No one comes over.
7:40: Hello? anyone there?
7:45: 15 mins later, the manager(?) shows up with an angry face. The four of us are ready to give order.
7:46: We order sushi. Manager goes, "we only have one sushi chef today and there are 4 orders ahead of you, it's going to be a bit." Me: "Is that normal to have one chef?" Manager: "No, but our part-time is sick"
7:47: We still order sushi - Who goes to a japanese restaurant and DOESN'T order sushi??
7:55: Our soup and salad comes. I ordered edamame and still a no-show. How long does it take to whip up edamame??
8:00: No other food comes.
8:10: STILL nothing!
8:30: Edamame finally shows up.
8:45: still no other food.
9:00: boy, we're hungry!
9:10: 8 out of our 9 sushi orders (+ an entree) finally arrive.
9:20: where's our last sushi order?
9:45: finally it arrives!
9:46: female friend examining sushi to find smallest one to give boyfriend
9:47: manager lady: "nothing wrong with it. just eat. it's good" in stern voice and leaves.
10p: they give check.
10:05: we put credit card over check
10:10: still no one picks up our check
10:20: hello? do we actually have to say we're all set?
10:25: Finally someone notices.
10:30: Freedom! we leave restaurant. (3 hrs later!)
Quality of food wasn't that great. Given poor service, go somewhere else!
