To Die For Brunch.
I love Highland Kitchen. I love the dinners, I love the drinks, I love the fact that even when I've had to wait it's never been for as long as they prepare me for. I love the jukebox and I've recently come to love the spelling bee on Tuesday nights.
But most of all, I love their Sunday brunch. The person willing to get up at the very reasonable hour of 11 on a Sunday will be rewarded. I am a particular fan of their chicken liver omelet (I adore chicken liver, but had never considered it for breakfast!) - but every option I've tried, from beignets to the grits - has worked out beautifully. Add to that strong coffee and a terrific live music trio and you've got yourself a party. Just be patient about the wait if you choose to catch some extra z's.
Excellent neighborhood restaurant. The bartenders and their cocktail creations are some of the friendliest people and tastiest drinks around. The food is reasonably priced and good as well. Definitely glad to have them in the neighborhood, and worth a trip if you live elsewhere in Boston.
Editorial Review. One of the brightest spots for locals in Somerville's Winter Hill, with modernized comfort food classics, a lively bar and family-friendliness.
Love it here!. I adore this place. We don't have a lot of restaurant options in my neighborhood, and I wish we'd get more places like this! Yes, it's very noisy and crowded, and yes, you will have to wait for a table on a weekend night because they don't take reservations. But the drinks are fantastic, so you just have to be prepared for that and enjoy the wait in the bar area. I've never had to wait more than a half hour or so for a table. Some of my favorites from the menu: the shrimp with chorizo and lime, the North African dip plate, the black bean burger (really good homemade veggie burgers are rare), the pork shoulder, and pretty much all of the fish specials and the soups. The service is always great and everybody is really friendly there. Definitely worth checking out!
exceptional neighborhood bar. this place is amazing! they have the best food, incredible drinks, and is the best undiscovered restaurant location in somerville. i have been there already millions of times since i moved here. their brunch is unparalleled in this city, complete with live Irish music! it is always crowded on weekends, but the people who work there are great, and will do everything they can to make your experience better. thumbs up!
Best Brunch ever!. Me and three friends went mid-morning for brunch. The waiter was funny and really attentive, refiling coffee numerous times. My goat cheese omelet with root vegetables was one of the best I've ever had. I would recommended this to anyone that wants to have a leisurely brunch in an environment that isn't too loud and isn't too quiet so that you can't rant your crazy weekend hijinks
Food was OK!!. Highland Kitchen statrted out good with a great gumbo for an app. but then it was down hill from there!!! The service was the worst it took them 20 minutes for the gumbo bot then a half hour for my shrimp sandwich whisch was just Ok. Never got a refill on my drink!!!
