Overrated – I have visited Demos' several times over the past few years, and they never fail to disappoint. Bland food, salads with iceberg lettuce...I still do not understand how this restaurant continues to get the ratings it does. There are far better options for Italian and steakhouses in Nashville.
Great Food – Great food, great people and lot's of locations to choose from. We ate there before going to a concert and the menu was extensive and the service was exceptional.
Best soup in the world! – I have to have the recipe for the Chicken and rice soup! It was wonderful! We managed to eat there twice while in Nashville. Yes the line can be long but it's worth the wait. If you go around 2 in the afternoon it's a perfect time. The waitstaff was very helpful. I love spagetti and this is the place to get it. We have a great spagetti resturant here in Vermont but they don't have that wonderful soup! If I could change anything it would be for them to get a bigger place. Please send me the soup recipe! !
Nice Family Place – We have been to Demos's many times...mainly because it was The Only good restaurant in town for so long...we go early because otherwise you can't get in...I love their chicken and rice soup and the fresh salad. Normally order the Sirloin steak which is pretty good...can't remember the name of the one I always use to get but it got where it was not as good a cut of meat...so switched to the sirloin. Bread is wonderful. Well trained servers.
Good food, good prices – Ate at Demo's on a late Saturday afternoon with my husband and our 3 daughters, plus my parents and nephew.
We were seated after about a 15 minute wait. The dining room was a little crowded for me, but not overly noisy.
We got our drinks and hot fresh bread very promptly. The bread is fantastic!! We had our waitress running back and forth bringing more bread throughout the meal.
Everyone in our party really enjoyed their food. I had the triple combo spaghetti plate....the Greek chicken sauce had a fantastic flavor, but just a few too many onions for me. The meat sauce was good, but I've had better. The garlic and browned butter pasta was lacking.....not nearly enough garlic.
My husband had a rib-eye and when he was done, said it was better than the one he'd eaten at a steakhouse the night before, much better than what he expected it to be.
My dad said the chicken alfredo was some of the best he's ever eaten. My 16-yr old stepdaughter had the potroast.....I couldn't believe what a huge portion it was! But she ate every bite of it, said it was delicious.
The best part of it.....the bill for all of 8 of us was LESS than the bill had been for only 5 of us the night before at a chain steakhouse.
Becoming average at best. – My family has been dining at Demo's for years and has been one of our favorite restaurant. However, over the couple of years the quality of the food especially the steaks that I used to say I would put up against almost any in the city has been getting worse and worse. I took an out of town co-worker recently and had to appologize about the quality of the steak. The cut of meat is not nearly as good and the taste of the marinade that kept me coming back is almost non existent now. This is still a decent family restaurant and the food is still OK but for whatever reason it is not the way it was. It really pains me to say that Demos is not on my recommended list any longer.
45 min. wait? 2 1/2 hrs later, still 45 min. wait? Never did get seated – It's difficult to give any kind of complete review on a place that we were never able to get seated. We were told 45 minutes for well over 3 hours. The 45 minute wait never changed. Finally, we asked for a Manager when we noticed others that had arrived later then we had were being seated. Management denied this happening until other customers stood up for us as it was happening to them too. We were then reassured that it would be corrected and 1 hour later, we were again told 45 min wait while others were being called. Is this segregation or what? I guess my money wasn't as good as the other guy. I will never attempt to return, nor will I even walk down that side of the street. It was the worst experience of my life for any form of customer service. (But then again, we never got a chance to be customer's so why give us any form of service, right?)
I have spent the biggest part of my life in customer service and have never seen anything as horrible as this. I not only do not recommend this place, but I pass my own experience on to others so they may be prepared for the feelings of being totally rejected, segretated, ignored, and snubbed.
Great Place for a Casual Dinner – This is probably not the place to bring a first date but if you are looking for solidly good food in a very relaxed, casual atmosphere this is the place to go. It is also great for lunch but can be quite a wait. The place has no frills whatsoever but the food is solid. It is also a great place to bring children as I have been there many times and pretty much order something different each time and I am never disappointed. One of my favorites is the grilled chicken stuffed potato. Definitely check this place out.
Whole family loved it!! – My family was in town for a concert at the Ryman on Dec. 7th and wanted to find a place to eat close by. Did an internet search and found Demos'. Came here and read all the reviews, even the bad ones. We decided to give Demos' a try. I'm so glad we did. My wife had the ribeye. It was prepared to order, juicy and had a great taste. My oldest son (14) ordered the Sante Fe Chicken. He loved it and couldn't even finish it all, there were five pieces of chicken. I ate the rest (yum-Yum). My other son (9) had the kids spaghetti. He wanted meatballs, which normally it doesn't come with it, and the waiter gave him three for free. His bowl was so full of pasta that he too couldn't finish it. I had the Blackened Chicken Alfredo with rice and chicken soup. Holy cow -- it was delicious. The soup was great. The others had salad with their meals. We also had the cheese bread for an appetizer, which was excellent. The bread served with the meals was also very good. My family will definitely be back on our return trip to Nashville. I only wish we had one where we live.
What do the unhappy and unimpressed really expect? – I have to say that the reviews that are not good must be coming from people who expect too much of the world in general. The VAST majority of these reviews are incredibly satisfied, even thrilled! We were highly impressed at our very first chance visit. Walked in looking for something other than my husband's typical Spaghetti Factory craving while downtown in Nashville for an event. We were very pleased with service, food, and prices. The chicken and rice soup is amazing! It was family friendly and fun to boot. Service staff had great personality. Our meals were a bit delayed, but WELL worth the wait! We'd come in behind a huge rush, and they were catching up. Hey, these things happen in life, you know? I highly recommend this place to anyone who doesn't think the world owes them perfection. You'll come close to it, anyway!
