DELICIOUS! – My husband and I took our neighbors out to dinner here and had a great time! Nice atmosphere, great service and very good food. THAT IS DIFFICULT TO FIND IN FLORIDA.
A bright spot amongst the Brandon restaurant chains. – We have been here 5 times now and I can honestly say that each experience has been great. The staff is warm and welcoming, and the atmosphere has a classic Italian restaurant feel. I agree with others that the avocado crab salad appetizer is not to be missed. The seafood, steak and pasta dishes are all excellent. Some of my favorites are the Capellini Giardino and the Pollo Giambota, both of which are generous portions sure to satisfy any appetite. My wife loves all baked pasta, and Chianti has some great choices on the menu. The deserts are beautiful as well as delicious, although I tend to drink mine, and there is a nice selection of ports and brandies.
Brandon is full of unoriginal, crowded and mediocre-quality restaurants. Chianti stands out high on the short list of better restaurants in the area. You may pay a bit more, but in my opinion it is well worth it.
What an Awful Experience! – What a disappointment! This was supposed to be a special occasion for an 80th birthday and it was awful. There was no water on the table, only the first 5 to arrive were given menus, we had to beg to have a drink order taken, bread baskets were practically thrown on the table, we weren't given anything to put on the bread. We were ignored. A complaint to the owner was met with the response that "this is fine dining." And, when we finally received our overpriced entrees 2 hours after arriving, the food was cold. We will never go back to this "fine dining" establishment!
Delicioso! – Fantastic experience in every way! I am so thankful an establishment has opened in this area where everything is made from SCRATCH on the PREMISES and not defrosted in a microwave prior to serving!
This restaurant is for people who will hire a babysitter and pay a few extra dollars for an outstanding meal.
AND I appreciate the not-so-child-friendly atmosphere. Not every experience in this world has to revolve around your children, people!!
Editorial Review – Italian restaurant serves classic and authentic dishes. Inspired by the Old World classic eateries of New York.
Best Italian Restaurant in Brandon – My wife and I have been here 5 times since it opened. Every time was a very enjoyable experience. The service was excellent and the food was fantastic.
For appetizers, we usually get the antipasto dish and the crab and avocado salad. For the main course, I have had the veal piccata a couple of times, the osso bucco, the veal chop, and a chicken dish that I don't remember the name. All entrees were prepared perfectly.
Their wine list is definitely the best in Brandon. On the higher end, they have Cakebread, Insignia, Nickel & Nickel, and a host of others. My wife and I shared a Damilano Barolo that was very enjoyable.
I think describing this restaurant as New York Italian Fine Dining would be absolutely correct. I lived in Manhattan back in 1990 and have visited several times since then. I believe Chianti's can compete with many of Manhattan's finer Italian restaurants.
NOT A CHILD FRIENDLY menu, and extremely overpriced. – Well its definitely NOT a "New York Italian" restaurant. The portions were small to be so over priced. New York Italian restaurant will feed you until your full and then feed you some more. The description of the entrees made the food seem they would taste a lot better than they actually did. The boneless chicken breast was paper thin and their American Cheesecake...well I took one bite and had to throw it away. It tasted as if it was made with flour instead of a good quality, heavy cream cheese. I ordered 2 entrees and 2 desserts as a take out meal, and they shorted me bread and salads. I spent $70.00 and will never return there again. If you want to take a first date there, it would be nice because on a Friday night, the place was almost empty...so the quiet ambiance adds a nice touch. But after you leave, you may want to stop by somewhere and pick up a bite to eat because you will still be hungry. My overall experience is that the taste did not meet my expectations (being from New York, I know GREAT Italian only all too well) and I am still irritated about the price and that the restaurant was NOT kid friendly.
Fabulous food, Desserts to Die For! Attentive and gracious staff – Chianti Restaurant is a girl's best friend. The food is so fabulous that your husband won't want you to cook!!
Great wine sellection and the desserts are heavenly! Highly recommended.
New York in Brandon – From the crooning of Frank Sinatra on the speakers to the murals of Italy to the fine chiantis and fabulous Tiramisu - this place is 100% New York Italian.
Starters are brought to the table - some tapenade made with eggplant and some fine parmesian and olives.
The wine list is first rate and there is even an "off the list" selection for the adventurous with big pockets. We had a nice Brunello that paired well with both our dishes.
We started out with a Caprese that was perfect.
Also a crab and avocado salad. Mild flavors blended so nicely.
For the main course, I had an Osso Bucco and my wife had the Dover Sole and both were incredible, served with a potato croquette and vegetable. The menu is large and has a lot of dishes I recognized and several I didn't know.
The desserts were incredible. We had the tiramisu and the chocolate mousse. I was told that the chef there was one of the dessert chefs for Molto Mario's place in New York. I can believe it based on those desserts.
After dinner we finally made our way to that dark-wood bar for a bit of port.
The service was very good. An efficient staff kept the table clean and the glasses filled. They were very attentive. It was a pretty late dinner for us and there weren't a lot of people there but they seemed savvy enough to take care of a larger crowd.
When the bill came - we laughed a bit - knowing that in Brandon it certainly rates as one of the more expensive restaurants around. But it was well worth it to us. It reminded us of many of the fine places we've visited in New York.
I checked out a lunch menu and there were some very resonable specials on there.
I think I'm getting hungry for some Italian lunch right about now.
