Bands Beware. Last night was my first time going to kaysans, typical sports bar, lots of big tvs and younger to middle aged guys sitting around watching them. The specific reason I went there was to watch a Rock and Roll show. Once I arrived I found out the band I came to see was starting 30 mintures early so I was glad that I got there early. As the band was getting ready to do a sound check the 'owner,' Kent (he would not come clean and identify himself as the owner so im not sure who the man was) came up to them and told them to turn everything down. On top of this, Kent also cut there show down to 30 minutes, so they had to decide quickly which songs they would play. Once they get about four songs in, and about to play there last song (which happens to be one of my favorites) they are told that they are done and to pack up there stuff. So by now its 10, the original time they were supposed to start, and in walks some of the people that came out specifically to see them. On top of all this Kent said that he would not pay them the prearranged coinage until after the show. So they ended up leaving without being paid. A phone call later Kent gave me the run around on the phone and tried to blame the terrible night on a fellow band that contacted Firefly Massacre to play there. He would not take responsibility for ruining the night for me and the other people that showed up to see them, he also had the gumption to say he was "one of the biggest booking agents in Fort Wayne." From my experience with Kent last night, he is not a very wise agent and was quick to place blame on others and would not give me a straight answer about most of the questions I had for him. If you are any sort of band looking to book shows, please look further than this establishment. You may be asked to turn your music down because some 70 something doesn't like loud noise.
