We visit Ri'Chard's regularly and always have a great time. The atmosphere is terrific and we've received good service and a great meal each time we've made the trip to Whites Creek. It's a favorite destination when we have out of town guests and it never disappoints.
Great place! They make you feel like you are at home from the moment you walk in. The atmosphere is family friendly and laid back. The food is delicious and made to order, and the specials are always changing. The soups are my favorite. We always have a good time at Richards!
Worst "CAJUN" Food Ever.
I tried this place a few years ago and wasn't to happy with the food however I decided to give it another chance..MISTAKE. They open at 11 on Sundays, we entered about 11:15 to no lights and nothing prepared, stools still resting upon the counter top. We overlooked it and started to order. They were out of items and waiting on Richard to return from the store so worked around that.
The Shrimp po boy tasted like the whole bottle of lemon pepper season was used to add flavor to the farm raised bland shrimp. The crawfish etoufay(?) was sweet! Seemed to me that somebody used sugar instead of salt, I couldnt eat it. Good thing i had a salad right? no, i had to pick through the lettuce and pull out the wilted pieces. The kids said the pancakes and french toast was good. The fried okra was good but thats hard to mess up if you know anything about cooking.
The entire place was freezing cold, we ate our lunch in our coats.
We had two adults and three children go for lunch and the bill was $65!! I will never go to this place again. I have a cajun uncle so next time i"ll pay him to cook some REAL food, not fake imitations. Or made I'll just settle for uncle bens, zaterans anything but this! Chappy's is the absolute best cajun food around Nashvillle....oh did I mention the waitress sat down to visit her family while we were there? Thanks for the sucky service also!
Go for dessert & the music. Eat somewhere else.. Music was great, ambience eclectic. Food was mediocre. Lots of fried foods :( Gumbo was too soupy and oily. Beans and rice were served room temp. The beignets were delish!--the best part of the meal. service was good. Fried okra and fried 'shrooms were great. Jambalya good.
Fun family atmosphere. This was worth the drive!! unique experience! The food was great and all of the workers were so much fun! Even the entertainers came around and talked with us!! Dont go to eat and run, make an evening of it! Everyone that works there was musical from the dishes to the register!
Wow, what a disappointment!!. Features live entertainment like many area restaurants. The food is supposed to be cajun, but it's fake and of poor quality. The red beans and rice dish was made with Pinto beans (calm down Emeril), the gumbo was the worst I have tasted (it was so bad, that is all I did) and the shrimp (farm raised) were tasteless. Average appetisers. Limited but decent beer selection (bottles only). The worst thing was the temperature in the restaurant. Despite multiple requests, the management kept the whole restaurant freezing. I had to keep my coat on the whole time and all were uncomfortable during the meal. Would not return with all the other good choices in the Nashville area.
This IS the place Louisiana natives go to regularly.
terrible service *!*#!!.
Man, it takes forever to get a meal at Richard's Cafe. It seems the employees are more interested in their social lives than service. The management is poor, and the food comes out about an hour after you order if it's a good night. I've been twice and it's been a complete waste of my time. I think they have the music there so the other tables of people waiting for food can't hear you complain. Stay away unless you have all night to wait for a po' boy.
I had to give it one star, there aren't any lower ratings available.
Service has gotten MUCH better!. I fully acknowledge what one reviewer wrote here: The service used to be extremely slow. But on our last three visits to Ri'chard's, I'm happy to report it is now MUCH faster. In fact, it isn't even an issue at all. So go to Ri'chard's for great food and music!
service is slooooowww!! food is good though..
my family and i have been to richards on quite a few occasions. consistantly the food has been tasty and consistantly the service has been awful. i know the kitchen is small but the food never comes out at the same time. some meals comes out 45 min after you order and then the others come out 45 min after that. and repeatedly i have gotten up and gotten the water jug to fill my water glass. we love the food and the atmosphere but whenever it is brought up as an option for dinner i cringe at the thought of the service i know ill be getting.
i know this sounds harsh and i do recomend the place but only if you are not in a rush to get in and get out.
