This fancy pants room in downtown Tacoma serves up snacks, steaks, seafood and other plates to curb your hunger. Best value is to be had during happy hour 11:30 a.m. - 10:00 p.m. Monday - Friday and 5:00 p.m. - 11:00 p.m. Saturday when the bar menu is half off.
Christmas at Pacific Grill. I want to be very respectful. Our waitstaff was great on Christmas Day. We were one of the first to arrive at the 5:pm reservation. My mother & I waited 11/2 hours for our meal. Wow, the profit margin was high & it showed! $40. for the lamb 2 grouped medialins & approx. 1/2 cup burnt vegies. I so very much wanted to like this place! I was ready to buy several gift cards. I told my husband I would be taking him .... But service was toooooo slow, food below par.. Sincerely, Kathryn
Thank you for writing us about your recent Dinner. We are sorry that you didn't enjoy the meal. Lamb is indeed a luxury this year & our price has skyrocketed (we actually priced it lower than our normal food cost goal.) Even still we recognize the lamb is expensive.
As for the portion size, all of our meat & fish items are approximately 1/2 lb per order, which is approximately 4 rib chops (but we cut them as 2-double ribs). We haven't heard any complaints on our oven-roasted vegetables that come on that dish, but we indeed roast them until they have a nice rich caramelization. As for the time of your stay we show that your completed dinner service was 1 hr & 50 min which is normal for our establishment & other fine dining restaurants. Everything is cooked to order which does take time.
We would be happy to have you come back to the restaurant & if you could contact me at Jacob@PacificGrillTacoma.com we could discuss it further.
Thank you,
Jacob Rose
Some of the best steaks in Tacoma.
Second only to El Gaucho for steaks in the Tacoma metro area. And even then, its a close race.
Yes, the prices are going to be on the higher end, but just remember you get what you pay for. The steaks are always perfectly cooked and the service never disappoints.
One thing to mention, try the bib lettuce salad with green goddess dressing. Its awesome.
Birthday Dinner.
I and a friend went to Pacific Grill last night for my birthday, had the Grilled Salmon topped with glazed Bing Cherries on top, Spanish rice and green beans!
For dessert, it was the Julia Childs Fudge Sundae, it was INCREDIBLE!!!
It was the first visit for both of us and let me tell you, we will for sure be going back again, soon!!!
Good Eats. Pacific Grill is a great restaurant in an awesome building in downtown Tacoma. I have eaten dinner and had their amazing happy hour and both are wonderful. You can tell the chef is playful with his approach to food. The happy hour menu has pages and pages of items for 50% off and not just small bites, there are full meals. Some of my favorites are the grilled oysters, the ramen bowl, fish & chips and the cuban sandwich. The restaurant is upscale but laid back, come as you are. Service is always top notch!
My "Go To" restaurant in Tacoma.
Easily one of the best restaurants in Tacoma - it can hold its own against any place in Seattle, Portland, or San Francisco. A great place that gives you 5 star service and the food to match.
If you're looking for dinner and eating in the dining room you can't go wrong...though I can't recommend the Fried Chicken Dinner enough. It's only available on Tuesdays - but worth the wait. One of the best meals I've ever had, no joke.
If you're looking for something a little more relaxed - try the bar. The bar menu is as rich as most other restaurant's dinner menu. And during happy - the price can't be beaten. I could eat the Cuban Sandwich every day of the week - but the burger sliders, and oyster shooters are definitely worth checking out.
Easily Tacoma's Swankiest Restaurant.
When I have friends coming into town I take them only one place: Pacific Grill.
It's locally owned and is obviously the passion of its owners. The menu is always changing and is creative while still being accessible and delicious.
The happy hour is such a good deal- there are a couple dozen food items that are 50% off from 2-6pm and 9-11pm. Try the amazing Grilled Cheese with Cheddar and Cave Aged Gruyere and the Meat Candy!
A lot of care has gone into making the decor and atmosphere elegant and inviting.
Thank you for the review!
Poor Service. Good food but slow service; restaurant was not busy and food took forever; meat was RAW and undercooked for 'medium' ordered steak; head up to Stanley's instead for far better service and ambiance for about the same priced food!!
Eh...go somewhere else. We should have just driven to Costco and paid the same price for a steak dinner and gotten 8 steaks that were triple the juice and flavor. The rib eye was dry and flavorless, medium rare. My steak salad was made with crunchy leaves and hunks of raw steak (medium rare). The most expenisive blase salad anywhere. Seriously...go to Paddy Coynes or Meconi's.
Sophisticated dishes and a modern sensibility at this polished dining room on Tacoma's Restaurant Row..
In Short
Located in a historic brick building on bustling Pacific Avenue, this classy spot retains some of the building's turn-of-century charm while gently introducing modern touches. Exposed Edison light bulbs above the bar cast a warm sheen on the reclaimed brick walls, while glowing paper lanterns abstractly imitate sea life. The seasonal menu offers old-fashioned American fare with an upscale Northwest twist, including steaks, fish dishes, wedge salads and more.
