Mediocre selection... not so great prices
by funfunkyfantastic
I like the fact that this pottery studio is just down the street from me. Unfortunately they do charge a studio fee. This place and others like it claim that a studio fee is necessary to cover their costs. This is not true. Other better studios out there do not charge studio fees and do just fine. In fact, I think the places that don't charge a fee actually do better! People have more money to buy more of their ceramics when they don't have to pay a fee!
- Pros: You can paint ceramics there, friendly staff, toys for kids
- Cons: prices are high, there's a $7 studio fee, small selection
Claywerks was a wonderful experiance!!

My daughter and I were amazed at the broad selection of clay (bisque) statues, bowl, mugs, plates and other things to paint. I really wanted to create and give my grandfather something special for his birthday. He used to make me all kinds of great things when I was a boy. I chose to hand paint a terrific chess set for him. I was a bit nervous at first but Angela, the owner of the shop, was extremely helpful. I told her what I had in mind and she helped me bring my vision in to reality. My grandfather really loved the chess set gift and we play it together often which is a memory I will cherish for ever!
I am now looking forward to going to one of the many classes that Claywerks offers and learn how to ?throw? clay pottery on the wheel. I happened to be at the shop during one of the classes and every one really seemed to be having great time.
Angela and her staff are really friendly and knowledgeable and know just how to bring out that inner artist that exists in all of us. I can honestly recommend visiting Angela and her Claywerks Pottery Studio.
- Pros: Memories and keepsakes that will be cherished and handed down for generations
- Cons: None come to mind. It was a genuinely terrific experiance!!
