Jackie's Restaurant.

8081 Georgia Ave, Silver Spring, MD 20910-4940

Having had the good fortune of going to many fine restaurants thru-out the North East, You learn the difference between a welcoming restaurant and a horrible one that you would not only never recommend but also never go back to.

Wanting to catch an early dinner before a movie we decided to try Jackie's. We should have read their last Trip Advisor review and gone elsewhere!

Arrived at 6:00pm and requested a table. The hostess informed us that they were "booked" and there were no tables available. I looked at the restaurant and saw 7 open booths and 7 open tables. Not so lucky for us. I pointed to the open tables and asked the hostess; "what about all those?". Those are reserved she informed me. What time are the reservations for I asked. 7:15pm she said. I looked down at my watch and informed her that it was only 6:00pm! Would a restaurant today really hold open 14 tables for 1 1/2 hours and turn away business? Or was it simply that they preferred a "lighter" clientele? I was flabbergasted! She asked if we would leave by 7:15pm. I thought to myself are you kidding me?! Begrudgingly she brought us to a table and we ordered our food. Started off with the ribs appetizer. That's ribs- plural. I suppose because there were 3 tiny pieces of meat on the plate they could technically be called "ribs'. If I sewed them together "they" would qualify as 1 "rib". Taste was OK... just OK... Next up the steaks. Again 2 tiny pieces of meat. Nice presentation on the plate but certainly not worth the price.

About the only thing about the visit that was good was the waiter. He was actually nice. I asked to speak with the manager to ask him if the rude way we were treated by our "hostess" was normal and their way of doing business. Much to my amazement this guy actually defended her actions! It felt like an episode of dumb and dumber! Are these people for real? Are they really NOT in the restaurant business??? Just to confirm my earlier suspicions I asked a couple that was seated at the next table after us if they had reservations for dinner here. They informed me that they did not and the "hostess" did NOT tell them they need to leave by 7:15pm. Just by coincidence their complexion was somewhat lighter than ours...

If it wasn't for the fact that there is no parking and we walked several blocks down 7 flights from the parking garage and the fact that we were trying to catch an early movie we would have just left.

If a restaurant that clearly doesn't give a damn about their clients and is seriously lacking in any type of diversity training and makes no bones about it with management that supports such rude behavior and over priced/undersized food is your idea of a "Gem" of a restaurant than this place is for you. If not, there are plenty of better alternatives. WE WILL NEVER, EVER, EVER GO BACK TO THIS PLACE AGAIN!- EVER!!!
